Remote start on manual transmission???

Remote start on manual transmission???
I have the hornet 554T security system with the remote start, 2-way remote, and all that jazz. Before i had the alarm installed i went to several different places, but they all refused to hook up the remote start because my car is a manual. Liability issues are the obvious reason in case the car is in gear and decides to jump forward and hit something or someone. I always always always put my car in neutral when i turn the car off so i wont have a problem with that.
So now, having spent all this money on my alarm, i am without one of the key features the system includes. Does anybody know how to hook up the remote start feature on this alarm?
Your help is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
-Bryan-

Before you even think about installing a remote starter in your ride. Currently do you leave the car in gear when you park? If you do, then I advise you not to install the remote start feature from that alarm.
If you want remote start then purchase an alarm that was intended for remote start on a manual or auto tranny.

As the VICTIM who was run down by a car with a system
that was not designed for it...My advice is:
*** GET A SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR A MANUAL TRANNY VEHICLE ***
End of story...Bye Bye

Re: Remote start on manual transmission??? (audioroach)
some people use e-brake as a trigger for the RS, so if it isn't engauged the RS is disabled. problem with that is if you hit start ( and its in gear), it will still spin the motor over. what you need is a way of dectecting when its in neutral, that would be the best.
as above, it is much easier/ safer/ whatever to just buy an Alarm/ Starter combo that is made for manual trannies. Trust me, I work for an RS manufacturer, we deny claims all the time for auto's in manuals.

Um, I have a manual and auto start. It's not that big of a liability if you're, you know, not a DUMBASS. I almost always leave my car in gear when I park, which means I hardly ever use the auto-start. The only times I don't park in gear, are when I'm parking on my driveway at night and I know it's going to be cold tomorrow. Those (coinci-*******-dentally) are the only times I use the auto-start. It seems alot of people are saying that it's a completely bad idea for manual transmissions. Just don't be dumbass and you won't slam your car into anything/anyone else.
Oh, and if you do happen to hit a person with your car, they have every right to hit you with your car too. That's what you get for being a dumbass, dumbass.

Re: Remote start on manual transmission??? (what the...)
A friend bugged the **** outta me to put one in his 4runner until I finally gave in, he was good with it, until one day his girl decided to start it up for him, trying to be nice and get it warmed up... normally woulda been fine except his brother moved the truck the night before and left it in gear, with the e-brake on. the e-brake definetly wasn't good enough as it smashed into the driver's/passenger's door of his dad's two day old BMW 745i..... no one there was being a dumbass... and **** can happen their called accidents, why not avoid them if possible?
be smart use one designed for manuals.....

Its not a matter of being dumbass. You have a habit of putting the car in gear when you park. One of these days an accident MAY occur becasue you or someone in your household remote start the car when it is still gear.

Re: Remote start on manual transmission??? (audioroach)
okay, so I will admit that mistakes are always possible. Yeah, maybe on one of those rare days that I acutally plan to use the auto-start in my manny tranny, something (whatever that may be) will happen, and somehow my car could damage another car/person. But this is why your insurance covers other drivers, or thier insurance covers them when they are in other autos. Honestly, I can't rule out the fact that some crazy ******* accident will happen. But it hasn't happened yet, and I haven't had a close call. I don't rely on the auto-start or anything. It was just something I did to add alittle bonus factor to my car. I dunno what the big fear is here. Don't give someone your keys if they don't get it. I mean, if they push the button, and **** your car (and, god forbid, someone else) up the it's on them.

Re: Remote start on manual transmission??? (what the...)
Okay what the... is still in denial. I pity him
Look this is how a manual tranny start works:
a) before you leave the vehicle you go through a set up mode.
car in neutral, flick a switch, push the start sequence on the remote
( it actually varies from system to system)
b) exit the car, close door..car runs then shuts down.
c)Its now ready for remote start...If any changes happen
ie: door, hood or trunk opens, alarm triggers...car will not start.
Also many are a one-shot deal...you can only start it by remote once.
These are for safety of person and property.
You can see why a modified auto tranny start would not be
ideal in this case...the auto tranny for the most part has interlocks
that allow it to only be started in PARK or NEUTRAL only. These are
not present on a manual tranny car.
Look if you think your insurance company will cover you when you
are facing a lawsuit which can total in the MILLIONS OF $$$$
because you are using a product in a manner in which it was
not designed...you are sadly mistaken.
But hey what do I know.... Lesson over
