Q! about DEI 513T Mini Piezo siren
If I touch the power to the battery and ground the black wire should the siren sound off like the regular alarm siren does?
I tried this with the regular alarm siren and it made the siren noise. Did this with the Piezo and it just makes a popping noise.
The guy at Circuit City told me to do this if I wanted to hear how it sounds
Maybe I have a broken piezo or 12v is too much
While I am thinking about it. How would I go about addind a 2nd Piezo into the alarm system (3rd siren total)

Connect all the power wires together and ground each siren, and no 12+ is not going to fry the mini piezo, it is bad.

yea its sounds like a bad peizo siren.. you can also get them cheap from radioshack as well.. you may have to add a relay to the siren wire to power 3 sirens total, i forgot how many sirens dei alarms are capable of powering at one time..

If you connect the siren directly to 12V, it will blare. the siren the cc guy gave you is definitely busted.

just go back and swap it for a new one. Circuit City... I don't know about best buy, but with the DEI lifetime deals, they'll just swap anything that goes bad. I know CC covers manufacturer warrenties, which is the reason it would just be directly swapped. (Plus if it's within 30 days you're within the regular return policy)

not all dei products have a lifetime warranty.. but in your case you should be able to get the roadshop manager swap it out for you.. sirens and key fobs are not covered under dei's warranty.. key fobs cause they take a lot of abuse sometimes and sirens cause they can go bad after the elements hit them after a while.. the brain and installation is the what dei warrantys..
