Putting new speakers and an amp- advice
Basically, it's a 99 civic EX - i'm thinking 6.5" Infinity Kappa 62.9 in the front, and 6x9 Infinity Kappa 692.9i in the rear - after doing some research it seems most people either go for these or the polk db6501 variants. I have the polks in another vehicle, and i'm happy with them - but I want to give the infinitys a try.
I want to pick up a cheap amp to power them - I have a pioneer head unit, but i'd be more comfortable using an amp -
Basically, question is - what amp would you suggest? I believe the UI would only put out about 20-25 watts RMS.
The rears are 2-110 rms @ 4 ohms (629.9i)
Fronts are 2-75 rms @ 4 ohms (62.9i)

Re: Putting new speakers and an amp- advice
All in all? I'd like to keep it under $400.
For the amp? Whatever. I can't imagine it being too much for something to just power basic speakers?
My buddy was telling me that my 4x50 head unit would be enough - but IIRC their actual RMS output is considerably less then advertised.

Headunits only put out about a clean 12 watts
In a perfect world, they wouldn't have internal amps since they're useless.
I would def skip the infinity's. Alot of folks like them due to the bright tweeter, but they lack midbass and that tweet is ear piercing at higher volumes.
With 400, i'd get
Image dynamics ctx65cs

Mb quart dsc2150
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...f=lst_llp_sl-0
And use the rest toward sound deadening

Re: Putting new speakers and an amp- advice
if i had 400 bux id do what edzy said. i have the same speakers in the front of my civic and they are sweet. midbass monsters and a smooth tweeter. loud as hell too. im feeding mine 150 a side and they can take more without sweating a bit. im not familiar with the quart amp, but have read many times it is a good budget amp.
