I think between these two it's mostly preference. I had a Pioneer 760 last year that was stolen (2004 model) and I thought it was AMAZING. I replaced it about a week ago with the 7600 (which is the lower model of the two) and it's still JUST as impressive. From my experience, I LOVE Pioneer, and I'll stick with their headunits. However, I've heard NOTHING but good from alpine. I simply liked the style of pioneer a little better (plus they have a re-tracting button that proves amusing. If oyu have one, you know what i mean) It just seems to have more features for me with pioneer though.

Check into saving cash and go with 2004 model pioneer off ebay. It's just as good as the 2005 models, but cheaper. Alpine vs. Pioneer? The both rock, I just prefer pioneer, but alpine usually receives better reviews.

I'm about to do my car with two 6.5" in the rear, POSSIBLY component 6.5" in the front (if not, I'll be with 6.5") and 10" in the rear. All being Alpine Type R speakers. I've heard nothing but good from the speakers and from the reviewers. They make insane speakers for good money.

two words. Car Alarm. Or take the face plate with you. Locking doors I've learned is no deterrent.

I like the Alpine because it seems less complicated than the Pioneer. I have experience with the one step lower models of both and the Pioneer is very complicated to understand where as the Alpine was a breeze.

The pioneer sounded awsome so did the Alpine, but I voted Alpine due to the user friendliness.

head unit quality breakdown for somewhat reasonable pricing

1) nakamichi (spelling)
2) alpine
3)-kenwood/pioneer

i sold and installed for circuit city for awhile

i would never chose a pioneer over an alpine when it comes to car audio

Thieves will sometimes break in and steal your unit even without the faceplate

Oh and, Alpine. I dont know if Pioneer fixed the track skip speeds yet but as for interface and quality, Alpine

Is there any TRUE way to protect a CD player? I heard you can actually bolt it in on the backside. Is this true?

first off, the pioneer is a show-off deck while the alpine is an enthusiast deck.

if you know anything about h.u.'s you won't compare an alpine to a regular pioneer, you compare is to pioneer premiere.

in this shootout, the alpine is DEFINITELY the better amp.

i've used both pioneer's and alpine's mainstream flagship decks. i had the pioneer deh 9300 for a while and sold it for an alpine cda 9835. both are awesome decks and you cannot go wrong buying either.

IMO, pioneer is MUCH MUCH easier to use and is louder. alpine sounds slightly cleaner but the preouts are way too weak for something advertised as 4 volt.

i personally would choose the pioneer in this case though. alpine decks aren't that nice unless its coupled with biolite display. whereas for pioneer, it doesn't matter if you have the OEL display or not, the layout just looks simple and beautiful.

Alpine is great audio stuff, but they've only realized that appearance is part of what sells a product about 2 years ago.

Im now on my second pioneer HU, first was P920R and now a P860MP. The upgrade was to get MP3 capability. I love the thing, and like the way it looks, day and night.

Alpine has my heart for their components...

I had a pioneer unit before. It was easy to use but it does not compare to the alpine unit when it comes to performance and features. The alpine units are harder to use though. In my opinion, get the alpine

the thing that draws me to the pioneer is the optional steering wheel remote
