How would you describe a bad alarm installation?
Everyone here says that a car alarm is all about the installation. Well I purchased my car with the alarm already installed so I have no idea who installed it. Now what is the difference between a good and bad installation?

A bad installation would have the immobiliser and wires in an easy to reach place, with no tape or shrouding covering them. Probably crimped connections instead of soldered, the alarm brain in plain view, the siren not attatched properly etc.
Basically anything that makes it easier for a thief to bypass.

Re: (Xsi)
or as some shops do, put the alarm brain under the hood.... since nearly every single one is a non-sealed brain, which means moisture and other objects can get inside and mess it up

Re: How would you describe a bad alarm installation? (Type-Rizzle)
Lets see:
using t taps, or 'solder tape' ( just wrapping wires and taping them) instead of soldering properly.
not using a rubber grommet when going through the fire wall.
grounding the siren in the engine bay.
not insisting you get a trunk and hood pin.
putting the valet switch in a kickable place.
doing your car "insert name" the same as every other "insert name" car.
not trying to sell you add ons, such as radar sensors, back up battery siren, passenger compartment pain generators... etc
not properly fusing the supply wire of add on relays. see below for a smoked jimmy driver door harness ( unfused rev pole relays)
