ef hatch system noob nice bass without subwoofer
i just purchased a alpine 9883 and i would like to have a great sounding system. (who doesn't?)
anyway my question is that i want to have the rear speakers for my ef hatch to produce bass. but i want to acheive that with a 6.5" speaker.
is there a 6.5" speaker that produces good bass? or is it even worth it. i was leaning toward getting a sub box but i don't have room in my trunk and the stock placement is good.
so what do you think. i am not a bass junkie... i just want bass that i can feel to an extent.

you can achieve good bass without a subwoofer. a friend of mine have 2 6.5 jl subs. they sound pretty god considering there are no box put on them. You can also put some component speaker system, but they still wont produce as good a bass as something in a box. You could try putting some 6x9 in a box, i had some good bass, but you could try and see how you like in your car.

As stated, they do make 6.5" sub's. You would need to use a low pass filter to eliminate the higher frequencies from going to the rear speakers.

Re: ef hatch system noob nice bass without subwoofer (White Smoke)
what filter are you talking about?
i have a 91 civic hatch and my truck is filled with tools that i use for work so a sub box is not practical.
i want to mount an amp on the back of the rear seats. so as to have more power for the speakers.
sorry i am such a noob
but whats the difference between regular speakers and component speaker system? is that box they come with an amp to power them?
also i have search and found out about "6.5 mid-bass speakers" any thoughts on those?

component speakers have seperate sound from the tweeter and the woofer. the sound is much more clearer.
regular speakers are coaxials, the tweeter is in the middle of the woofer. this doesnt sound as clear as components. they also do not put out as much power.
components are much clearer and louder, they cost almost double then the price of coaxials
coaxials are good dron in speakers for the price and if you dont want "mb quart" sound then coaxials are better.
your alpine headunit will be good enough to push any aftermarket speaker, you will just get decent mid bass.

yeah component systems have a crossover system that low not from the tweeter's higher notes. Like stated above, it will produce much clear, and he is right about the alpine powering just about any after market speaker. have you considered any powered sub, such as bazooka bass tubes, or the infinity basslink system? they produce a good amount of bass in a cubic feet space.
