Car won't start, help!!!!!!
Move to civic/del sol 92-00 forum please and thanks guys.
So I installed my sub and amp today, sounds real clean for a 6in. Anyway when I went to start my car nothing, I don't hear the starter clicking so I think it has to do with starter. I checked the fuse unde the dash for the starter looks just fine, I checked the battery cable to starter and little to no resistance. Car starts when I pop the clutch. At this point I'm lost, any and all help is appreciated
Thanks
Sorry 96' civic hatch(ek4) and it has a b16a2/ls tranny swap

Re: Car won't start, help!!!!!!
First thing to try is a bypass jump, using a jumper lead, from batt. or batt terminal on starter, jump to the starter solenoid control terminal, smaller gauge lead terminal on starter motor.
BE CAREFUL, make sure car is not in gear, engine WILL crank even if ign. switch is off and car is in gear.
MM&Y of car and is it auto or manual???? 94

Re: Car won't start, help!!!!!!
Update on starting my car, it starts when I poP the clutch and had the starter tested at two different autozones and it's still good. While at the second autozone finally talked to a guy who knew what he was talking about or what made most sense of the 3 other people who helped me. He gave me two DIY test for starter and ignition switch, narrowed it to the ignition switch. So I have the Haynes manual and shows how to test the ignition switch for continuity.
My question is on the book it says to have continuity between plugs 1,3 and 12 on the ignition switch harness, do I need continuity between the 3 at once? I get continuity between 1-3, 1-12 but not between 3-12 I tried in all 3 key positions (acc,on,start) and nothing.
Any and all help/ideas welcome, thanks guy

Instead of testing for continuity, test for power, check for 12V+ on the black/white lead at ign. switch when ign. key is in start position, if there is no power on the black/white lead then the ign. switch is the problem.
Have you tried the bypass jump yet? 94

The starter wire in the ign. switch harness is black/white, [black with white tracer].
A bypass jump is supplying the starter solenoid with power directly from batt., bypassing the ign. switch, CIS and starter relay or A/T gear position switch and all the wiring.
Unplug the starter solenoid control lead, [thinner of the two leads at the starter solenoid, the thicker one is the batt. cable] using a jumper lead with one end connected to either the batt. pos.(+) post or the batt. terminal on the starter solenoid, [thicker lead] and then touching the other end of jumper to the solenoid control lead terminal on the starter solenoid, [the one you unplugged]
Because a bypass jump bypasses the CIS or A/T gear position switch it is important you make sure car is not in gear, engine will still crank. 94

Re: Car won't start, help!!!!!!
Ok so I did the bypass once more and checked out ok. I checked for current on the ignition switch in all different key positions and current in present. I was directed to the 'clutch safety switch' and seems to be fine anymore ideas are welcome
Come on guys this issue is killing me

Sounds like the starter relay, either the relays coil is bad or the relays main contacts are bad.
Can you hear the relay "click" when you turn the ign. switch to start?
How did you test the CIS?
The CIS supplies a ground to the starter relays coil, power for the coil is supplied by the ign. switch, [start position].
An easy test is to unplug the CIS and use a jumper, [paper clip] to connect the two leads, [black and blue/black] in the CIS plug together.
Another possibility is the starter cut relay, [if your Civic has OEM alarm. 94

should br located to the left of heater box housing.
Can you not hear the relay click when you turn ig. switch to start?

Sure it's not the clutch switch I bypassed the switch completely amd jumped it with a paper clip and nothing

Your car has a relay to control the starter. Its a green plug to the left of the fuse box. It has 2 black with white stripes wires(starter) and a black with red stripe. Make sure you did not unplug this.

Re: Car won't start, help!!!!!!
It is possible that the CIS is still good and the reason jumping the CIS plug is not working is that the black lead at CIS plug is not grounded.
Try running a ground directly to the blue/black. 94
