Default Speakers for the Integra?

The fronts and rear are 6.5" inch right?

I was thinking of going with 6.5"s Alpine Type R speakers for the front.

Will these be good? What else is good?

i'd like to know specifics on integra speakers also. i'm looking to upgrade mine and want as little trouble as possible when doing so.

for those of you that have upgraded, what's the max thickness of speaker allowed in the door? any other issues. let us know please.

6.5" is the speaker size for front/rear of your car... But those alpine type r's are 6". Thats what he meant. You will need to make a custom spacer for the front to make the speaker fit right. No biggie, if you need help on that, let me know.

I don't think you'll find a 6" component or 6.5" co-ax speaker that won't fit in that door. You will just need to make a custom spacer at worst which really isn't too difficult if you have a jigsaw.

What he meant was, the teg has 6.5 front speakers but seriously, if u compare them to aftermarket 6.5 speakers, u will find that the stock 6.5 are very small, also in terms of diameter, and u could consider them as 6". Those alpine are 6.5.

My bad, you are right... Thought the alpine comps were like diamond audio comps in that they only make 6" and 5". Either way, you will be needing a spacer to make it fit right.

Sorry if this is a noobie question, but what does a spacer look like? Does it cover the left over .5 inch?

You know how the speaker sits in a speaker basket right? Well, that speaker basket is quite shallow and most aftermarket speakers are entirely too large to fit properly in that basket. So you need to modify it. What you could do is cut out the basket and leave just hte rim of hte basket. Then try and mount the speaker with that. Some of the time that will suffice, but some of the time, you need that basket rim to be thicker b/c the speaker still is too deep/wide for that hole in teh door. So you have to go buy some mdf, make a cut out exactly like the speaker rim basket and drill that into the same holes the old speaker basket fit into the car door. Then simply mount the speaker onto that new "spacer" made out of mdf. That should give enough room for the speaker to fit flush on teh mdf board. Hope that helped.

I just installed mine the other day... (read my post, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=183851)

Here is some info...the Alpine 6.5" require a mounting diameter of 5.75 inches, Acura's doors are 5.25. Thats a problem, so to resolve it, you have to make a 1 inch spacer. I high suggest finding 1 inch thick MFD, I only found 3/4" and then had to use a 1/4" sheet of hardwood to make 1 inch. Then just cut them out and use to mount.

Here are some pics

very nice construction idea. When i did mine a while for my rockfords i made someonthing similar. With some scrap plywood laying around the house. Didnt have a timplate or idea, just knew i needed to extend the speaker out to make it fit. Worked out well after a few final trims with the jig saw. Nice job on the construction.
