Default 99-00 Civic si radio question

I am wondering why sometimes when I have my radio on loud, the sound cuts out. The radio stays on but there is no sound. I have to turn it off then back on and its fine. Also, I want to get a new radio but i heard that my keyless entry will not work if i take my old radio out. Is that true?

Check all your connections.. Keyless entry still should work.

As far as your radio not working, that could be a lot of things. A lot of times the factory units tend to go bad for one reason or another. Some simple cause of it are a bad speaker, or a speaker grounding out. If you are going to change your head unit, which I think you should, your keyless entry will still work. I have a 99 SI and when I changed my radio everything worked just as before

A friend of mine is a GM mechanic, he gets this brand new cav, or sunfire , that the guy says the CD deck isn't working...

He pulls it out, and hears something strange.

Pops the deck open, and the guys kid has be putting all the loose change he can find into the cd slot.

He said there was over 5 $ inside it. hehe

Mine does the same thing sometimes, weird. I never asked about it though because it doesn't happen too often. As far as your keyless entry goes, it will not be affected. This is only true for older models.

yeap, 96-98... even then mostly LX, EX, and HX if they have keyless. (possibly VX I guess also).

As for your radio, don't know... maybe something is shorting out or a speaker blew and the ohms are low enough it's shutting down the radio when you turn it up
