88 civic hb std. build
WAD UP H-T!!!!
this is my first build so it may take longer than usable being that im a noob to honda..slowly but surely i guess?
I found a 88 civic hatch at a towing yard, ask the guy how much and he said $500..i felt like it was too much..so i went home told my gf to go ask him and act like u were interested in it...and he said $350...lol...so i got the money and there, now i got my project!!!!!
I bought it Jan 31 09..drove for a couple months and been working on it for 2.5 months so im basically recapping this as i did it when i did it...lol..i know i should of started it earlier but watever...
the good:
-i seen potential
-it runs
-tinted rear windows
the bad:
-f.bumper hanging
-cracked windshield
-dash had holes/cracks
-pass. fender had a hole in it
-all blue interior was spray painted black
-door panels ripped/ducktaped
-driv. seat drilled down was 90 accord(maroon)
-pass. seat ripped
-headliner had holes,rips,the works
-steering wheel had a section sawd off
-had shoes/books, bunch of crap in the trunk
Sounds like alot of bad and not worth it but i was happy and had the "**** it" attitude.
Here is a pic of it at the tow yard when i bought it..i had more pics of it and the interior but camera erased all of them..

Looks good. But you should keep the cheap parts away from the car and save up slowly to get the good stuff. You won't regret it

Re: 88 civic hb std. build
so i got sum UPDATES----------------
heres a shot of the motor it came with: d15b non-vtec(dual-point but averaged bout 40-45 mpgs)
since all my interior was blue and is trash...im obviously changing it all...im not that big of a fan for the 88-89 style(small cluster, tail lights, corners, side moldings, bumpers, bumper signals..etc)so im changing to 90-91...
picked up a couple items for the build:
-H.iDS 8K $50
-BBS 14x6 (painted gold) weigh only like 9 pounds each $100
-bought a new hood(old was bent and had dents)$40
-90-91 si complete dash+cluster $50
-90 si rear seats(clean) $20
-front bumper (new)$20
-side moldings
-carpet$20
-88-89 headliner frm DX came with handles $11
-92 DA front seats$30
----after i took pics of carpet,seats...i shampood with Rugdoc..lol clean!!
--------MORE TO COME-----

That engine bay is clean, compared to the rest of the car when you got it lol.
My step dad just picked up a 91' ef with 99k original miles for a grand. GL on the build, looking forward to the results.

Re: 88 civic hb std. build
okay....im editing my previous post to put the prices i got all my stuff for ...i'd like to say im a pretty good shopper..lol.. so scroll up an check it out the deals i got....
i was thinking bout keeping single cam, so i bought a d16a6 swap w/130k orig miles for $300 but changed my mind and decieded to go dohc...so i sold the long block for $300 and sold the tranny for $140....then i used that money to buy a 91 LS motor...got the complete swap for $750..(came with:b-series ef mounts, shift linkage, dc short shifter, ecu, fresh new head)
then i used "holy cow and engine degreaser"
ALSO PICKED UP A FEW MORE STUFF FOR THE BUILD"
carbon fiber hood $60
AEM intake $40
B&M guage+fuel pressure reg. $20
EF9 sidemarkers $20
Prelude fogs (with brackets+frame)$20
96 civic sedan sideskirts(cut/shaved for direct fitment) $20
-----------------STAY TUNED---------------------
