Default 00 Civic Small time Build thread

Here it is.

Picked up a 00 silver ex with a blown motor for 385.

I was stoked because it had, original floor mats, clean title, Honda key fob, one key for all locks, factory fog lights, mud flaps, CLEAN QUARTER PANELS! (223,000 miles)

About a week before this, I found another 00 silver ex and picked it up for 800.

This is the 1st 00 ex. (Behind is my 99 dx)

Everything was good but-
Replaced radiator support and wasn't the best job, salvage title, damaged front bumper cover, black fenders, aftermarket black hood.. No window sprayer deals, a/c compressor is siezed/fan won't kick on, cracked windshield, baby little tiny damage in drivers QP, two valve cover bolts were snapped off in the head/rocker arm assy. Previous owner JB welder the top of the broken bolts to the VC so it would not leak oil up too. Somehow didn't leak from the valve cover gasket. (125000 miles)

Small QP damage I was talking about.

Have been looking for the perfect car to keep for a while and was going to call the first 00 ex good. Then got the second one and, heck yeah! I got it.

Here's the first time I saw it:

There was only an email on the listing, I thought 'well he is never going to reply'.

He did! I could easily make this thread pages and pages long with explanations but I guess I'll try to keep it short.

Here's my old 00 ex and the new one on the trailer.

Note the dented trunk lid, missing pass. Mirror, dented door and fender. Both fenders were junk.

I got the car to my house!

Stashed it away fro a minute so I could swap motors on my 77 accord

(At my uncles because he had a cherry picker)

Ordered a cherry picker for 135 flat on ebay. Stoked!

Around the same time, someone gave new very totaled 99 civic LX. (220000 miles)

Here's the plans.

Take blown motor out of new 00 ex.

Take good motor from old 00 ex and install in new 00 ex.

Take good motor from free 99 LX and install in old 00 ex for resale.

WHAT? Making an original vtec car non vtec?! Yep. I guess I am doing that.

For fun here's a pic of my old 00 EX next to my other uhhh 99 or 00 auto EX.

Fist thing I did was vacuum the new 00 EX for Atleast an hour and a half, then wipe it down with a wet rag for another hour and a half Atleast. Wish I had pics of before and after.

Next thing was trunk lid swap. Since I will be selling the old 00 ex, I am taking its good parts.

No pics of lid installed at this phase.

Old ex got black trunk lid from another parts car I have.

Next was door swap.

(Old ex door, new ex in background)

Door removed,

Shot of damaged new ex door.

Door installed.

Here is how the climate control looked in the new car.

Here's what happens when you barely breath on it.

Plans to fix that soon!

Steelies and hub caps that came with new car.

Plasti dipped, curbed, Gsr fat fives transferred onto new car.

These lovely things happened in the process! ( 2 broke, one stripped, drivers and pass. Side.) Probably going to just swap used knuckles I have onto there for now.

Power locks were not working via door switch. (Did via key fob)

Found the culprit!

That'll do the trick. Now they work. Had to replace passenger actuator.

Gettin ready for the motor swap!

Bumper is off because I was investigating non-working fog lights. Fenders are off because I'd rather have no fender than poop fenders.

SCORED! Found a OEM SI spoiler with harness for 50 bucks! I was so excited it was rediculous. It's silver too! Looks like OEM paint, after researching, must be a Canadian silver SIR spoiler, or a dealer installed (onto an ex) spoiler.

Also found a silver mirror for 35, going into the old EX I will sell.

Found a blue/green 99 OEM drivers fender. Pretty clean, I know it'll take me forever to find a clean silver one. I'll take it. Now just need a clean OEM passenger side fender.
Ordered an OEM hood bra off eBay for 40 bucks.

New 00 ex is getting its motor pulled tomorrow, going to keep the head.

Pics and info to come.

I plan to keep this one for a while, so this thread may grow old!
That's all for now.

Motor is out!

Dirty dirty bay.. Sat for 2 years. Hose is off. might take a bucket and a rag to it.

How it died. Original motor and transmission.

Last drive with its original motor.

And it's out!

Removed old transmission and installed a supposed OEM rebuilt LSD transmission. Supposed to have 0 miles. Picked it up a few months back from a friend for 200.

Hole.

I'm gonna be lazy and not clean the bay. If only my hose was on. Motor is ready for install. I plan to be driving it by tomorrow night.

Got the good used knuckles from my parts car. I'll probably keep the old ones, put new hubs, rotors bearings, lug studs and lower ball joints on them so I have a set ready to throw on. At that time I'll probably want to do axles, inner/outer tie rods, bellows boot and upper ball joint.... All that would be so sweet and expensive.

It's going in!

And it's in. Everything went good, no pain the in *** bolts trying to strip. Had to bleed the clutch by my self because no one loves me.

Took it for a long test drive and everything went good! Taking it on a 230 Mile trip tomorrow. Still have lots of buttoning up to do.

Smashed the **** out of my thumb so I took a break for two days lol.

CEL 67, o2. Came on after driving for 30 miles. Haven't checked it out yet.

Drive it about 300 miles so far.

Today,

I switched the door lock cylinders from old door to new door, and vise versa. Forgot to do that when I did the door swap.

Mounted the new spoiler:

Changed out blower motor. Original was LOUD.

Fixed both windows.

Replaced stock door speaker with a stock one, original was broken. Eventually I'll put money into the sound system. Speaking of-

Installed new bezel/stereo:

Poor pic.

Also I replaced the drivers door uhh stop deal. You know, the contraption that tells your door when to stop opening. Mine was snapped, so the door didn't stop anywhere. Was a pain in the ***.

Put the hood bra on:

That's all for today.

Replaced cap, rotor, fuel filter and plugs. Did the wires recently.

Here's the old driver crap headlight. Deer did this. All tabs broken and cracked case.

Plan to clear the haze on the headlight. Threw the fender on until I feel like having it painted. Mocked up the bumper bra. Need passenger fender for it to look good..and need one in general lol.

Replaced the secondary o2 today with a good used one. We'll see if that fixes the CEL.

Streetable, fast daily. Right now I am just putting the y8 back in, but down the road when I have some more money I'll go b or k.

I abandoned this thread, but shall commence again! A lot has been done to the car, and I have no plans of parting with it any time soon.

Got some new hankook 195/55/r15 tires from...ebay! haha.

Traded old wheels, 100 dollars, and some beat to **** SI wheels for these MINT SI wheels.
Picked up some dc leather seats for cheaps!
DC leather.. All four corners are mounted, and passenger rolls forward when you put the back forward, ya know?
Swapped the drums for em1 discs. Installed new trailing arm bushings while I was there.

Drilled here for itr sway bar mounting location.
When I got the engine the flywheel was bolted to the block, but apparently only hand torqued. Figured that out here with a flywheel bolt backed out and nabbed my clutch. Was delivering hx center caps to a stanger, ended up being a friend. I gave him the center caps and taught him how to swap a Honda tranny, luckily his garage was 40 feet from where it happened.
Sourced an em1 cluster.
Installed.
Bay pic with bar.
Scored an oem em1 lip for 100.
Hoodless day.
Cruisin
OEM sunroof visor. Came with car.
Cleaned up the headlights a decent amount.
Pressure washed the trunk Carpet.
Got these stupid gauges. Oil pressure and water temp.
In its natural environment.
Did a skeleton hood for a min.
I like this shot.
Eks all day.
Bad pic really but I take apart the tail lights and repainted the flaking reflective uhh, chrome.
Duel exhaust mod.
S2000 steering wheel. Came from eBay so my car is ebay built ok.
Installed, cruised wired up, no cut wires.
Face of hard working fellow. After 06 engine replacement, making money to feed the civic.
Moving.. hate treating it like this.
Night shot.
Tucked into the new-to-me garage. Just enough room for everything I need to do.
Hate using it as a truck..
Installed this here doubledin. Pain in the ***.
Was vacuuming then OCD kicked in and I decided to clean the carpet.
All clean.
Scored some em1 front seats.
Hoodless again.
Got this twin flipper to feed the civic. This flipper is all original, that's the dealers lot paper in the window, OG keys and key fob, matching locks, floor mats..
At some point I got this here new em1 grill.
Took some motivation to get out and do it. Garage was occupied with flipper.
New OEM fogs, grill.. and headlights cleaned again. I know, I should have cleared them the first time.
Originally I had an eBay exhaust, too loud. Then I got a used apexi ws2 with a comptech header. I stopped using my itr header because fabricating would have been needed and didn't have the means at the time. At the point of this pic, I was switching back to the ITR header. Yes I killed its value by welding on the test pipe, but I don't plan to sell it and it's hard to find a mating flange for the itr header. Super quiet with the apexi ws2 set up.
Work car?
Yep..
Tein flex z coilovers came!
Pretty.
Installed.

More goodies.

My girls.
Work.
SOME F**KING B**TCH! With no insurance. Told her I need 1k from her. So far I've got 100. It's something. My soul was crushed this day. I have multiple cars, she mentioned to someone.. what's it matter he has more than one car. On this day, we were raped, messed up in the head.. I didn't drive it super often after this. Was afraid to.
Twin flipper done and ready to make money to feed civic.
Flipper in front, little hatch I ended up owning for the second time, and the main character.
Inspiration..
Swapped em1 front sway bar and LCAs from an em1 to mine.. and my parts onto the em1. Ex gfs car.. atleast she can let me do this for all that I did for her. Lol.
Got some Power folding mirrors! They sent me a switch for an 01-05 . Awaiting another switch+relay in the mail now.
Engine must come out for paint.
Ok it's out.
Bay working on getting stripped for paint.

Gotta love the thought process of some people. "He has multiple cars, why is it a big deal?" Well because you caused an accident, at no fault of my own.

The fact that states allow an "Uninsured Motorist Fee" is mindblowing to me. If you cannot be insured, or cannot afford insurance, you should not be driving. Driving is a privilege and not a right. If you are found driving without insurance, it should be a criminal offense and immediate negligence for a civil court case.

Good luck with your build(s). Lots of work!

damn, I didn't even know that was an option is some states! I believe in Washington, motorcyclists don't have to have insurance. I may be wrong. But I am with you, that's pretty messed up! Sad part is my closest friends don't have insurance. Drives me nuts. I make sure and make them feel bad about it. One got popped today for no insurance. It'll be waved if he gets insurance soon, so it's a good thing!

Waiting to go to paint. Tomorrow it should be there! My 77 next to it. Remember when I took a break to swap engines on the 77? I let it sit until now.. got a Weber and did a few things, now he runs again. The 00 is my most practical and reliable car sadly.. so it's been rough. Ha. I took the type r engine and put it in my 94 civic cx. Too much power for a stock chassis, well maybe.. it's open header because I don't have it in me to pay for exhaust work when I'll put the d15b8 back in shortly.

If p20 is the code for the 98+ JDM type r trans, yes. Not sure I documented that. I found that trans^ for 1k, and sold my GSR trans.
