^Is that true? Because I've heard that some people haven't had any issues w/o it.
And emissions only checks to see if it's there? Idk. Someone clarify puhleezeee.

My car does idle weird if the motor runs on the hot side. The idle bounces 300 rpms up and goes back down and up again, etc.

SOOO I was driving and midturn a skunk appeared and I had to turn quickly to the right and well he lived! But I oversteered and despite quickly correcting I hit the curb hard and the wheel bent. No body damage but the tire popped and the wheel is gone.
Now Im going to be rocking the 99-00 Si wheels that were going to get new tires for spring/summer/fall since it had 1 blown and the rest weren't that good. They had 195/65/15 on them.
I got (4) 195/50/15 Yokohama S.Drives for $248 shipped :bang:
Going to get them mounted tomorrow

I got a free car wash but it was really dark to take pictures and the flash would reflect of the wheels/license plates so these are the best out of the bunch.
1 shot downtown at my hometown!

Squad minds think alike. I bought some S Drives a few weeks ago. The initial road noise was high but after a while them suckers bite better than every other tire Ive ever owned. [In terms of extremely hard cornering].

Stripped my caliper bolt when I went to change my left rear pads
*cry*
Here you can see the grooves in the disc from the seizing.
After a lot of frustration and whatnot I managed to get it out. Bolt extractor+ hammering forever+ratchet and doses of PB blaster about 20 times.
Now Im stuck with a problem thats even worse. Piston won't go back in. Its seized pretty good lol. Im twisting the caliper with the tool I rented from Autozone and even with force its not moving at all. :-(
So I had to throw in the old pads back on with grease and got everything back together.
The brakes feels quite mushy and I'm just going to break down and get 1 or 2 new calipers for the rear. We'll see!

Tire places like Town Fair tire charge more and have TERRIBLE selection for our sizes and are more expensive but mount for free. Service there is bad no matter where you go but they do give you an alignment.
I much prefer get a selection of tires at a cheap price and pay for mounting and alignment separately. Also my tires came with a $40 dollar rebate so they originally cost $288 and I will get $40 back in a few weeks.
As for the hubcap no it didn't survive. Ill have to figure out what to do next winter....
Heres a bad picture I have. The wheel isnt as bent as it seems, the hubcap is not inside the wheel, its just sitting on it crooked.

Have you removed the screws that hold on the rotors? This is another area to take precautions ... all the sources I found recommend using a manual impact driver to get them out. I used one when I did my fronts and it worked on 3 of 4. The last one got the drill.

I installed new Sony xplod 2 way 6.5 inch speakers in the back the other day along with a cruise control button cover for the steering wheel that I picked up at the junkyard.

Re: HBKFanatic's EG Hatch Build Thread
Alright guys, I apologize for the lack of updates recently. Let me get you up to speed.
After a long cold winter and rain for 2 weeks it the weather finally started coming out. Last week it was nice and warm and after I came home from work I was really fed up with my sound system.
The back speakers were just okay speakers but 1 was blown and the front left had 1 okay speaker but no speaker on the right.
The passenger speaker in the front has never worked since Ive had this car. It really bugs me!
I started in the back. Removed the 2 okay speakers and replaced them with new Sony xplods. Theyre really nice speakers, 6.5 inch and 2way. I lost the pics for them though. Then I go ahead and tackle the front. Well, I really took everything apart. I couldnt get any of the front ones to work even after a lot of tinkering. I am going to tackle it again sometime. Its got to be somewhere between the wiring from the speaker to the harness.
I tested for power and the wires get power but it doesn't work. I tried putting the speaker wires in the harness and it works there so I know that the harness is done right in the center console. Once I get them working Ill buy another set of xplods to put in there.
Last week I washed the undercarriage as well to get rid of all the salt and grime left over from winter.
Today I went to Rhode Island to meet up with a friend who just got his hatch painted. I talked to the body shop owner and he knows his stuff! It should look really good especially after the rust is taken care of. OEM hood will be painted too. That will be happening next month. Overall fun day. I got to drive his ride which is pretty nice.
The car will be looking real fresh after that. I mean my interior is like brand new pretty much and the outside will be brand new too.
After that I plan on redoing my brakes all around. New calipers all around with new pads all around along with brembo blanks all around.
YEAH ALL AROUND YA HURRRRDD? :bang:
After thats squared away I plan on replacing my axles because 1 has a ripped boot and by then it should start clicking and whatnot. Plus they're unbalanced so every time I hit a bump the wheel vibrates/shakes but its also partially due to my blown shocks.
FITV system is going to be cleaned as well. My idle fluctuates and I have adjusted for it to idle at 1000rpm last summer.
I also plan on polishing my header around this time too. Along with a full engine detail which will include cleaning the hell out of the block and a very minor wire tuck possibly.
Once thats all good it will be time for suspension which Im touching all bases on. Probably will be around end of summer by the time I get to this.
SAY WRD :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:
I also put in some pics to show the condition on my left rear pads.
