Civperc's 2001 Integra GS-R resto-mod project (Back again for the first time)
What's up guys. Long time no post, but I'm back! I've been in "the scene" since the mid 90s and used to roll a boosted 96 DX sedan when I lived in Houston from '01-'07. I'm in the DC area right now and after **both** my N/A LS Teg and boosted DX Civic were stolen within 5 days of each other following the influx of people to H-town due to Katrina (such a shi**y period), I spent ten years away from cars and was restoring old Honda motorcycles.
The love of the track, street cruising, everything JDM etc. never left my system though, and I recently set out on a mission to find a project car. It was darn near impossible to find something not hacked to bits in this area but I was successful about 3 weeks into the search in finding a silver single-owner DC2 with under 150k miles.
I'll be documenting the entire restoration process as well as the modding phase which will follow. This car needs a fair amount of help, but she's structurally sound and runs strong for her age. I'm honestly stoked to have this to work on and save from impending death. I look forward to re-engaging with you guys n girls here, and posting all my updates along the way.
Car: 2001 Acura Integra GS-R w/ 130k miles.
History: Single owner with no accidents, but barely any maintenance. Previous owner smashed it into seemingly every parking lot hazard available for a decade+. It was a trade-in to a local dealer. They still owed money on it after 16 years and it wouldn't pass inspection.
Condition:Beat up and totally unloved but overall a decent base to start with.
Main issues: Body needs many dents, scrapes and defects taken care of. Seats were literally set on fire. Bird poop sat so long that it ate through the clearcoat. Driver side window motor is fried. Interior is horribly dirty. Wheels are rashed to hell and all tires are mismatched. Rear passenger caliper is frozen. Rotors are done-zo. ABS light is on.
Main plain: I am bringing this car back to as close to showroom quality as I can, then lightly modding it. I'll clean it as best I can, swap all fluids, then tackle all of the body sanding/filling/painting. From that point forward, I'll upgrade the suspension and begin lightly modding overall. Won't be boosting this one, yet.

A little update on how the cleaning out of my GSR restoration is going, as I get the next full episode/vid rendered.
This really gave me a laugh, lol...

Thanks for the support and interest, guys!
As a how-to, this is too basic for nearly everyone here but it also serves as documenting a step in the restoration process of my project. New vid coming later this week!
