Casey's 1992 Civic Si build

Re: Casey's 1992 Civic Si build
thanks everyone
Got some progress done on it this weekend. I didnt take a ton of pics though.
We tapped all the threads in the bay that are going to be used. With the new bolts it was nice having things go together with ease
Getting engine bay items reinstalled before the engine goes in
Attachment 435966
Attachment 435967
took the ABS module out under the dash and heater core. Drilled through the firewall with a hole saw to run the harness through
Attachment 435968
With the firewall grommet fitted and riveted in. This thing worked out perfectly. It covers the huge hole so that hot *** engine bay air wont cook my feet, and the rubber stretches enough to get the ECU side plugs through it without any issue.
Attachment 435969
With the rear motor mount in place the grommet is completely out of site
Attachment 435970
One blurry one with headlights and corners back in
Attachment 435971
I started on doing new undercoating and painting the rear brakes. Ill have pics of that next weekend once completed. Dont mind the steering rack and the lower subframe as I am ordering a manual rack and will be repainting the subframe. I originally was planning on leaving the rack in but its an eyesore at this point to me and it may as well get done while everything else is being replaced.

Re: Casey's 1992 Civic Si build
got a little further on progress but not as far as I had hoped. Had two snags come up: I forgot to order a couple space pieces for the shaft on the steering rack that the power one did not have, and my mini cooper rotors are too big...apparently their are 280mm and 276mm ones for the std cooper and I got the 280. So the engine did not get in since the lower subframe was not installed. I did get some suspension parts freshened/replaced and also the left rear of the car dialed in
picked these up from rockauto since my oem ones had bad ball joints. for what I paid, if these last me 1-2 years Ill definitely get my moneys worth
Front LCA werent horribly worn but had some cracked/split bushings. I found my new go to performance part site: HPTautosport.com - they are based in NC, and have the lowest prices I have found. They also got my stuff shipped to me in 2 days. Picked up these hardrace front LCA for $152 shipped lol
I media blasted my front lower forks. The front a arms/compliance arms were greasy as ****. I pressure washed them, then put in my dishwasher at home, then rubbed with degreaser and then wax and grease remover. After, the forks and arms were sprayed once again with the krylon dual aerosol, and came out great yet again. Pic with the front UCA for all the new freshness
quick one of the swap since its bolted up and waiting to go in
left rear before any new parts, undercoating etc
after cleaning, undercoating, new rotor, refinished caliper, new hub cap, stainless lines, removing the rear dust shield(need to do the other side too), and cleaned the rear trailing to look reasonable(still need to do the other side too)
and that sums it up. I have more parts to order to get things together next weekend, but ill continue to show my progress

Re: Casey's 1992 Civic Si build
thanks ninja fam MCL
thank you!
As for my brake caliper/rotor fitment, Im now thinking that the car has non si/ex knuckles. I reread the brake thread and I did indeed order the correct ones. Ill have to find some integra or civic si/ex spindles
thank you!

absolutely, you guys are my go to from now on on performance parts
Thanks sir, OG reunion soon
was able to get the motor in!!! We got the harness routed through the firewall. It took some finessing but came through. Also got the front suspension on sans the spindles since I havent picked up the correct ones

FYI the 92 si never came with the knuckles for the larger brakes, they're the same size as the dx ones. I ran into the same issue. I ended up with integra knuckles.

Re: Casey's 1992 Civic Si build
That makes a lot of sense now and I definitely did not know that. Thanks for the heads up, at least im not losing my mind lol
the valvecover im using is with a painter i know. He has had it for 2 months. I was going to get it painted kaiser silver but am tired of waiting so have asked he for it back and money he owes me. I am going to get it powdercoated a light metallic grey close to kaiser silver

I really liked my "battleship gray" valve cover on the LS. I'm going to rock the OEM wrinkle red on mine and probably try to snag another one to do gray.

Re: Casey's 1992 Civic Si build
very nice contrast indeed sir. I want the kaiser silver to try and match the ICB gunmetal anodized mounts. I wouldnt mind a brand new jdm itr cover but the red dulls out quick enough id feel bad about buying a new one.
