Default What are possible upgrades, but still pass smog in California?

Motor: del sol b16a3
no mods currently
Situation: will replace all belts and head gasket(been leaking) Very soon. So since im there, might aswell upgrade sum stuff. But im in California, so must pass smog.
no supercharger and turbos. NA all the way. No offense to my friends.
So far: I can only think of changing the cams, and port and polish the head.
I dont have to worry about the visual inspection of smogging, just the emissons part. what are some recommendations, but Am i being realistic?

My b17a passed the cal sniffer test with webcams, itr intake mani, big TB, headers 2 1/2 exhaust Erick's racing ecu and 275cc injectors. Make sure your ecu mods keep the ox sensor feedback working. Dan

Thats good for 20 hp....max....on a good day.....
For the same amount of effort and money, you can get yourself a hybrid T3/T4 installed and make an extra 90 hp at the wheels. Looks like it's time to find a way around this smog crap.....

if you really can get away with no visual, put an LS bottom end on the motor and start with that

Woooow! You have no idea....do you? To get serious horsepower out of a NA engine, you can easily spend $20K........ versus to turbocharge it properly only costs $6K......

Alot of racers build serious NA race motors, only to turbocharge them later.....
Learn from the pros, go turbo, and don't look back.....
