Track Testing B20B swap
So just recently I retired my ITR setup to temporarily DD my coupe with a stock B20B swap. I was curious to see what the motor was capable of running and was pretty surprised. So this weekend we track the car and came up with these results.
Mods: Bone stock 96 JDM B20B
98 LS intake manifold
Itr tb
Small tube hytech replica header
2.5 exhaust no cat ws2 muffler
Custom length 3in intake
B16 tranny w/ itr LSD
Exedy pressure plate w/ act 6 puck clutch
Hondata s300 running b20 basemap no tuning
Shifting at 6800rpm
Car weighs 2620 w/ driver
Car ran 14.8 @ 92 mph with a high 2.2 60ft
Car usually can break a 2.1 60ft so possibly has potential of running a 14.6 on street tires and maybe high 13's on slicks.
Just thought i'd put this into perspective to people who wonder what this swap might be capable of.

Re: Track Testing B20B swap
Car is really fun to drive around town way more torque than my itr as far as the butt dyno can tell.
I don't necessarily think that the motor needs to be opened up to see good results probably do some tuning and maybe add some delta 272 cams for sure would be a nice little track beater.
The whole reason I posted this up is just to give people of what this motor can do in a heavy chassis. I've gone to the track many times and have seen cars with vtec motors run slower times. So for those curious heres a little insight :-)

Small additions like manifold, exhaust, thermal gaskets, etc will add in power here and there. But you biggest gains will be in the head.. so porting the bowls, removing cast marks, valve job, and polishing exhaust will be your best power adder.
theres non vtec B20's with great torque #'s and pushing 250 all day

Re: Track Testing B20B swap
Your cams wont do much cuz the engine is low compression.. So, like i said, split it open, add in some ITR replica pistons, rods, then your cams and tune. Then you will feel what your B20 has to offer. I found a deal for pistons and rods for under 500 shipped. PM me if interested.

Trust me we done all kinds of testing already different combo's usually a nicer set of cams help the motor breath better and give u a broader power band so for now well see if I can improve the times on this little beater with simple stuff and good driving
