Default cryo treating or shotpeening beneficial for all motor build?

just looking for thoughts on whether cryo treating and/or shotpeening connecting rods and/or crankshaft is beneficial for an all motor build.

rods will be stock ITR rods, crank is stock GSR.

engine will turn ? rpm - will use S2 Pro 1 or 2, with approx 12:1-12.5:1 compression. it will be balanced to 10k+.

just looking for long term durability and reliability. car will be a weekend driver with track days thrown in 3-4 times per year.

thanks.

It would be within your best interest to do at least shot peen and a recon (straightening). Cryo treating isn't as necessary but that's the part that isn't as necessary.

Its really not that expensive at most machine shops, and they can put your rods to your new pistons at the same time, so that they are balanced with the rest of the assembly.

If you want longevity and durability for 10K + (though I don't think going THAT far is needed) this is a good way to do it.

My $ is on cryo - it not only stress relieves the whole rod better than shot peening, it enhances the properties of the metal through improving the grain structure alignment - not something achieved to any degree at all by shot peening!
A very knowledgeable a good guy in Ohio named John Pegg has a Cryo chamber and is very reasonable. Were it not for prohibitive shipping costs I'd cryo my whole motor! Try John at johnpegg58@yahoo.com . Hope your build goes well!

thanks.

for my work, i would use www.procryo.com as they are 20 minutes away...

i was thinking that cryo would be beneficial, as well as shotpeening. i just wanted some "assurance" that i wasn't throwing money away...
