Default Tapping head for B20v

I purchased a Full-Race Ls/Vtec kit which comes with the 1/8 npt plug. I bought a 1/8 Npt tap, tapped the head and the plug won't fit. My question is why? What kind of tap is everyone using the tap I have bottoms out and but not before being screwed in 2/3 the way. So I need a shorter tap? I can provide pics if needed. Thanks for any help.

Tap it more..it should be flushed to the head.a little bit deeper won't hurt.

I guess I'm goin to have to grind off some of the threads cause the tap is to long and bottoms out, before I'm guessing its fully tapped.

Might as well grind off the plug a little bit to shorten it rather than the tap.you might damage the tap thread which could subsequently damage the existing head thread when you tap it again.

I could do that but the plug barely threads the first 2 threads.
