Default Stalls while driving; tach fluctuates

So, my '95 Civic LX sedan started having issues a couple weeks ago. Driving down the freeway the engine would momentarily stall; tachometer would drop to 0 then things seemed to recover fine and would run fine for hours or days. My plugs and wires were due for replacement anyway, so figured that was a good place to start. Today it stalled climbing a hill near home and did not recover on its own. It would turn over but wouldn't start until I had turned the key completely off; it would then start with no hesitation. Also, occasionally when driving along at a consistent pace and RPM's between 2k and 3k, the tachometer will start fluctuating up 200-500 RPM though the engine speed doesn't sound like it's actually changing.
Tried to check for codes after getting back home and getting a jump wire, but the CEL didn't blink at all.
Thoughts? Crank Position Sensor?

Possibly something internal to the distributor. Other probable cause is a loose thermostat ground. This is the ecu ground.

This would be my guess. Or the ignitor.

Why did you make 2 threads about the same thing within 15 minutes of each other?

Sorry about the dupe posting, I didn't realize the first one had posted. It obviously wasn't ready for prime time yet.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check those out.
