Skunk2 - H2K (KIM) Intake Manifold Adapter
That's QSD's KIM adapter in the picture displaying their product. I'm sure it will soon change, or not.

Re: Skunk2 - H2K (KIM) Intake Manifold Adapter
Skunk2 continues its tradition of innovation by ?
Copying a product made by QSD!
Then Skunk2 tries to advertises their knock off manifold adapter with a picture of a car sporting a QSD manifold adapter on it! WTF?
They must not know that car has a QSD manifold adapter on it?

Not for Skunk2 in any way, but how in the hell can you tell what adapter is on the motor?
I can barely see the adapter let alone tell who made it. Am I missing something obvious in the picture?

Re: Skunk2 - H2K (KIM) Intake Manifold Adapter
that other link that you posted had this (Below) from someone asking where they can get the plate.
G_money[12] Jun 22nd, 2011 @ 10:32 AMWhere can this adapter plate be purchased?
...Skunk2.com[13] Jun 22nd, 2011 @ 4:39 PMG_money, we're not sure who makes the H2K manifold adapters anymore. We believe this one came from a company called Quartersport.
.
(then they decided to make one and cash in on it too i guess) and now they have deleted that post on their site!

They didn't have to claim anything, pictures speak louder than words. <Ha, I was able to use that saying and it really holds true.

They did copy you guys and made an adapter plate. But they didnt claim it was on that car that you posted. (I figured some other company would copy you guys)

So basicaly all of skunk2's so called new product details pertaining to the manifold adapter are bassed on the QSD Quartersportsdrag.com intake manifold adapter not thier own?
Wouldnt you expect them to advertise their so called new part with a picture of a car actualy sporting their product? A part they claim to have tested? Instead they chose to post a pic of the very adapter they copied?
Quoted from Skunk2
All Skunk2 products are carefully planned and designed in-house using the latest computer simulation and modeling techniques, followed by careful testing in controlled laboratory environments using state-of-the-art equipment. Each product is then subjected to rigorous dyno, street, and race track testing to ensure proper performance in the most extreme conditions. For these reasons, top street cars and race cars worldwide rely on Skunk2 products.
So is the above quote just a bunch of BS that sounds good to customers?
Sounds to me like they did a lot of testing all right, with a quartersportsdrag.com manifold adapter.

the only and last thing will ever buy from skunk 2 is my alpha 70mm throttle body..
it was awesome racing someone full throttle go to let off and the car keeps going imagine that...

I love the products Skunk 2 makes on paper but I hate the physical parts. Junk2 is right! They look pretty but just can't handle being used.

Wow, that's pretty lame. It's funny that they have a entire blog bitching about "Copycats", then the next thing they do is screw the little guy. Way to go Skunk2!

Re: Skunk2 - H2K (KIM) Intake Manifold Adapter
Seems like people posting their ramdom comments which don't offer much insight as to
why they think it's wrong/bad or right/good.
What's also important to find out is if QSD patent their product so that other companies cannot copy it without signficant differences & if the patten is only protected by law for a certain duration.
This thread is pointless unless we are trying to ask BIGGER questions such as :
Lets say that
A) QSD never patented it
B) QSD did patented their products but that "ppatend period" has now expired
1) Does allowing Company-X to make replica's of someone elses work ethically wrong with no compenstation to the orginial inveting company?
2) Should the "aftermarket honda" automotive industry have special treatment when compared to other "manufacture" industry?
Food for thought, think about......
aftermarket honda market:
Hasport vs. Innovate, place racing, AZ, ebay mounts
Full-Race ramhorn vs. all the other ones out there (lol)
Hondata vs. uberdata, crome, neptune, turbo edit ect
Skunk2 cams/IM vs. blox, replicas
Hytech/Bis/Toda vs. PLM headers lol
Parmaceutical drug: O
rginal medication vs. generic copy medication
Technology:
Apple Ipad, Iphone, Ipad, Ipod vs. all replica/comptitors
Manufacture goods:
tape (3M duck tape) vs. other brand
My take on this is that as long as Skunk2 hasn't broken any patent laws, people should not give them grief about it. Nobody ever put down blox for copying cam profiles or IM designs from Skunk2. Skunk2 did they can, the made new profile, the expanded their parts line, they changed to survive.
It's just part of the capitalistic & free market industry that manufacture companies are in. If they fail to recognize it I'm not sure what "protection" they have from their compeitors.
I'm sure seth is a great guy & he did invest a lot of personal time, money, effort into his products, but this issue is not about just Seth's efforts it's or if it's a likeable guy.
It's really about, is it fair to prevent JOE/Company X to start making parts similar to the orginal invetor/product ?
If you don't think that free markets is not a good idea for any industry then I'm not sure what to say to convince you otherwise.
I'm not defending skunk2 as a company. I would say the same thing if it was a discussion about Hondata IM gasket vs. golden eagle, blox, ANR, ebay copy IM gaksets.
