Misfire in cylinder no.2, on a jdm 98spec ITR
I recently acquired a chipped ecu obd1 with base map from phearable.net for my set up. I know it needs to be tuned but I notice that i keep smelling fuel and white smoke coming out of the muffler and i wondered why. I started removing the spark plugs to check for correct gapping and when I removed spark plug no.2, I notice that it was clean looking and it smell like fresh gasoline while the other 3 spark plugs were black and smell like burned fuel. That alone lets me know that there is no combustion in cylinder no2.
My question is, does anybody know if it's a dizzy problem or a spark plug wire?

A bent valve ... the valves are new. How do you bent a valve?

Your running pro2's.. Bending a valve is quite easy with cams that huge.

No "PRO" Series cams make they're most power 0ed out.. nor do they NEED to be 0ed out.. he probably contacted a valve slighty.

usually they like it when you take overlap away, i think the key for safety is to seperate them by 3 degrees?? or is it 4.......i dont remember.

I havent run it yet... all I've been doing is turning on the engine. I still need to wire the vtec and knock sensor.

so if I degree the cams, I should not have a misfire?

Sorry... What I meant to say is that I have fired it up but not driving it anywhere far... just around that block.

you can bend a valve turning the engine by hand you can surely do it, driving around the block

Re: Misfire in cylinder no.2, on a jdm 98spec ITR
Finaly after all this time... problem solved. I took the car to a friend of a friend. they found 5 bend intake valves. The reason was that the cams(skunk2 pro2) are too big and the valves needed a valves job. I was told that every time you get after market valves(skunk2 pro flat)... get a valve job.
