If this is the case, then for sure his friend mishifted the car or something like going from 2nd to 1st or 3rd to 2nd. He overevved the engine by put it in the wrong gear and crashed the valve on top of the pistons.

what dont you understand?

your not gonna figure out what caused it by making useless posts on the internet....

btw did you ever go to the dyno w/ your pro3 setup?
Hey, i am just helping the guy try to understand what could have happened and if his friend was lying to him. I have not been to the dyno yet as the operator is out of country sailing boats in St. Maarten.

doesnt matter if his friend is lying to him or not, whats done is done....

anything could have caused the valve to drop and playing detective through h-t isnt helping anyone because NOBODY knows what happen except for the driver

maybe your friend shouldnt have let someone he doesnt trust drive his car

and if he trust's him then he shouldnt be second guessing him

Was piston to valve clearance checked?

Are any of the cylinders still intact or did it break all the valves?

If there are some valves that are still intact, take the damaged piston out so the engine will spin over and either clay the engine or put a light spring (available at any hardware store) in place of the valve spring and check with a dial indicator.

This was a 150% STOCK ITR motor. P2V checks were not necessary since the previous head was replace with another 100% stock ITR head.

Was the block ever decked? I'm sure you "believe it was 150% stock motor" but, I've seen blocks with a 0 deck on them" Just sort of taken back that your main focus of concentration is the head and not the block. I've had dope flowing heads changed from one block to another and they yield different results so in the end it's not the head, it's the block. We're all just trying to help and give you our experience with it.

Good luck,

E

Well the car is an ITR that just came from Japan with less than 30K on the speedo. The block is a virgin my friend.
