JDM b18c. ITR or GSR help plez!
its been a while but i finally recieved my jdm 98spec b18c type r?
first I would like to start off by saying thanks for any help I recieve!
The head is stamped PR3-3
The block is stamped b18c with (hmo) also stamped on there next to b18c
The intake manifold says p73 hf-1 also has a stamp that reads H3A ( looks like itr intake manifold.
trannys stamped lsd N3E looks like one piece with the motor (aluminum gasket barley see)
green paint yes but varly varly visible ( steve said 37,000 miles) but paints varly visible???
Heres whats making me nerveous, the timing belt cover for the timing belt section on the cover says p72 when i believe it should say p73, can either fit? but if its a jdm b18c itr, why recieve a p72 timing belt section cover? also how for-sure do i know the bottom block is 98+ itr and not gsr, jdm = same stamp??? I do have the engine number thats beneth the b18c stamp and have tried to look up the motor but to no avail. anyone help with looking up the number? I dont know any other pointers or tips for piece of mind? I know hmo is repitable thats why i went through them but i have read some reviews that aren't pleasing (**** happens i know) and with the p72 timing belt cover, and the green paint by the dizzy worn to **** when its suppost to have 37,000 miles on it makes me question not only integrity, but the motor in a whole. Oh and it has whilte spots on it like idk mold or that its been sitting for ever. THANKS

You have the correct timing cover. The white spots are oxidation. Thats normal for an engine that sits and goes through a couple different climate changes. Also, I'd assume Hmotors cleans these engines with a pressue washer/degreaser/solvent which could also explain the white spots. I also believe they replace timing covers with new ones and valve covers in some cases. I have the same exact engine from hmotors. You don't have to worry about having the correct bottom end. They are legit buddy. The engine is 15-17 years old, they are in top notch shape for their age. You made a good decision when deciding to purchase from Hmotors.

Thank you brother, your reply was much needed. Another question if i may. Im still doing my engine bay and tuck, if i dont put this motor in within 30 days, does the warrenty hold say if i put it in within two months from now? I know i need to change the gaskets too! Again thank you for answering back.... One more note, i believe the itr bottom end starts with 210xxxx below the b18c stamp, i looked at some google itr bottom blocks and they all started with the 210xxxx so i believe you are correct about the bottom end maybe if you checked yours you could verify my answer about the bottom end... Im hoping because as you can see in the pics that the green paint is almost gone i was told 37000 miles and id assume even tho 17 yrs old the green paint would be more prevalent but it may of just wore off...

HMO will not rip you off. What you paid for is what you got.
Its a B18C w/ ITR head, intake manifold and if you checked, cams/valve-train as well. It is legit. I would be curious to know what trans it came with. If its a JDM-R trans you scored even bigger
In ALOT of cases, P72 and p73 are interchangeable in terms of how they are used on parts such as timing covers, oil pumps etc.

Looks like an ITR to me too.
Another difference is the trans to engine bracket/flywheel cover. ITR gets a cast aluminum while gsr gets the regular black stamp steel cover.
Can you see through the differential? If you can see though, you have lsd. Another sign you could have an ITR trans but not 100% as other engines came with oem lsd.

My jdm ITR block starts with 22xxxxx.
Rest assured. Everything points to a legit ITR engine. And its from a reputable company that's been around for years.

^ That engine serialnumber thing is interesting, I have a EDM '98-00 ITR block which have 100XXXX. So that number isn't unique.
That's because these are based on P72-bottom end and they share some parts. Actually there is very few parts with P73-stamp in this whole engine. So no need to get nervous.
Off topic, B18C6 also have a P73-00 pistons.
