Awesome write-up. But I have one question, what ecu do you recommend using on a LS/Vtec setup? Also, I'm planning on doing a LS/VTEC build this winter, would it be OK to PM you any questions I have?

You can PM with ANY questions you may have.

As for the ecu. Honestly, it doesn't matter since you should be chipping it and tuning it anyway. A chipped P28 will work fine, as long as you get it tuned.
There isn't any one ecu that is going to work correctly for this setup. It's not a stock honda motor and honda never made an ECU to go with it, obviously. There is not a "best" stock ecu for this kind of setup.

Somewhat of a random question considering the amount of info in this thread, but when you installed the valve cover did you use any sealant? Or did you simply clean the surface areas, put the gasket on the valve cover and then torque everything down?

If you look closely at the valve cover gasket, there are little square shaped "pads" in some areas. Apply a SMALL dab of RTV there. That'll do it.

Follow the instructions included with your lsvtec oil line kit, as every kit is different. But, what ever you do, don't forget to teflon tape all fittings! The kit I am using is from full-race.com and is a proven kit. It replaces the factory oil pressure sending unit with a "T" in which the unit and oil line are screwed into. It's simple, and that's why I like it. I like the Golden Eagles oil sandwich adapter, but they include the wrong head gasket in there kits, which is why I will never use one.

Alot of people have had problems with the vtec head gasket. You are supposed to use the gasket that matches the block with this setup to prevent leaks.

You may or may not experience leaks. If you don't, cool. If you do, buy the gasket that matches the block.

I plan on building a b20vtec and when I've looked online at the GE lsvtec conversion kit it always gives you a choice of what size headgasket you would like to purchase. Usually it's between 81-86mm.

You were saying that the GE kit provides the wrong headgasket, but that link shows you being able to select the gasket you need. I guess I was just pointing out the fact that maybe that's a new thing and I wasn't sure if you were aware of it.

no...I was saying that the "vtec" headgasket is the wrong headgasket. It doesn't matter which one's you can select...they're vtec headgaskets.

Thank you for the clarification. I guess it doesn't matter if I choose the correct bore because the gasket is wrong either way. You saved me another headache

Yes, B16 water pumps are the same as the ITR/GSR pumps, as well as the CTR pumps. All dohc vtec bseries water pumps are 22T. As for the oil pump, it depends on what year the pump is from.
You want an oil pump from a 94+ GSR or 96+ LS/ITR/CTR/B16. If its a PRE-96 B16 oil pump, it will work, but won't pump at the higher rate.

I also went back and edited that part, so that there won't be any futher confusion.

do you think that the stock rods with arp rod bolts and acl bearings will take 9500 rpm needed on skunk stg 2 and bc stg 4? or is 9k the limit you take yours to?
