help me decide which cams will get me over 190whp on b16
My setup is b16 w/ 10.8:1 CR
Mods are:
Apex N1 exhaust
Password Carbon fiber intake
DC 4-2-1 header (will be upgraded to jdm itr)
powercore race cat (will be changed to high flow cat)
skunk2 intake manifold
ITR throttle body
skunk2 stage1 cams & cam gears
alaniz street master head work
mugen head gasket
omnipower valvesprings, retainers, & high compression valves
ITR LMA's
Hondata IM gasket
Hondata S200 tuned by Shawn Church
Here is what i made with this setup-
What I'd really like is to be able to go from 178whp to hopefully ~190whp & gain some midrange as well.
Also a good idle is a must. So please let me know if any of these cams will give me a rough idle. Also let me know if any of these will be overcaming my motor or if there is another cam u'd choose.
So here are my choices in order of what I was thinking-
1. Rocket M22x
2. Skunk2 Pro 1 (how's the idle?)
3. Blox Type B
4. Skunk2 Stage 2
5. Buddy Club 3 (probably wont get me the top end goal, but beter midrange)
Thanks everyone, sorry so many cam choices, but there are so many good cams coming out i just don't know what to go with.

M22x has perfect idle. I just did an install over the weekend and the 12 CR LSVTEC idled better than with ITR cams. Car ran good and slammed into the 8900 rpm rev limit.

cool, that's what I've read. My concern with them however is are they too much cam for my motor- b16, 10.8:1 CR?
If the m22's aren't too much cam then they are my first choice!
How's the idle on the pro1's anybody?

Are you looking to gain a solid 13whp+ just by swapping a different set of cams?
Where i am from, pushing 190whp from a stock stroke and stock bore B16 is no joke.

M22's get my vote....they idle perfect! So much more then what I had before (98 ITR cams) Thanks Robert for everything "shameless plug"

Well, its on Shawn Church's dyno, so it will be closer to 180 Dynojet hp.

Well, I already have S2S1's so the ctr would be a step backwards i'd think. Toda B's maybe but I've heard they idle a little rough.
So Rocket, u think the m22's will be overkill on my motor? What would happen if these were indeed overcaming it, would I actually lose power or would I just not gain much over what I already have?

It's not a joke to me at all. Hell when I got 178 I was really surprised. With upgrading the header & going to more agressive cams I dont see why it couldn't happen. & I said ~190, so 187,188,189... would be fine. I really don't see that to far out of reach.

look up dynamic autosport spec B cams...
omniman ran them a while back, had huge success with em...i have em and a couple of buddies do as well...
a friend broke 180 whp on a mildly built b16 dynoing on 17 inch wheels...

read the new HCI magazine with the s2k on the cover. it has a cam test for a b16 in it. i forget the name of the cams but with jus i/h/e and those cams it got 177 whp or somethin like that.

if i was you i would think about maybe a header and some more comp to go along with the bigger cams. it would be in the best interest to do this to take advantge of the higher air flow.
edit: by just putting ctr pistons and your mugen head gasket, you could easily hit 11.8:1 compression ratio. this would be super helpful and it's not so radical that you would have to run race gas. you definitley need some more comp. then you can maybe see 200whp. (now that would be tight!!) good luck with you choice.

yea, I'm getting a JDM ITR header, yes I know there are better ones, but it's better then what I have now & i live in ca so with the heatshield i can get away with this one if the cops pop my hood.
11.8:1 CR would be tough. we only have 91 octaine gas so it's getting close. plus i doubt i could pass smog with that type of CR.
So everyone is voting m22, but lots of u guys think they'll probably be a little to big for my motor. So what do u think will happen if i put them in? Will I only gain a little top end, if any & lose some midrange? Or what?
