Default gsr vs itr crankshaft

hi
what is the differences between itr and gsr crankshaft?
itr crankshaft is better?

ITR crankshaft is slightly heavier because of larger counter balancing weights. Better? Better for what?

Nope. A reduction in inertia can increase torque.

ITR crank is balanced to a higher rpm than the gsr for higher revving..

i guess it depends on your goals to say whether or not its better

Please explain how an ITR crank is balanced to a higher rpm vs. a GSR?
What RPM is a stock GSR crank good to?

If you want to make more tourqe use a LS crank in your gsr/type r block. A gsr crank has a 87mm stroke and a LS crank has 89mm stroke. All B series cranks will take high rpms. Its is the stock rods and rod bolts that cant take the super high RPMS.

ok let me reword that...

The ITR crank is balanced to reduce vibration in higher rpm.. I've read it reduces vibration up to 20% i dont know what exactly that is compared to (gsr or ls)

as far as what rpm a gsr crank is good to.. i have no idea i guess you'd have to rev it till you break the crank or everything vibrates apart.. my guess is that you'd have problems with other parts handling the revs before the crank would have a problem...

i dont think you really cared to hear that answer though.. you probably just didnt understand what i was saying and were calling

^^in that case why not buy a gsr crank for less than a type r and send it to a machine shop to be balanced and lightened?

it'll probably end up costing a little more because im sure the balancing costs more than the difference between the two cranks... but it'l probably be a little better balanced

Years ago when I was a noob I called JUN USA to ask about their motor building services

When I asked them if they knife edged cranks they said NO NO NO NO

They either kept stock weight or added a little to help with vibration/balancing at 10K+rpm

While knife edging will make the rotating assembly lighter and unlock a few ponies the trade off is the counter weights cannot counter the changes of direction as well

I would assumer the bearings will take on more load as revs rise and the counterweights get lightened too much

Maybe JUN was wrong, but I was inclined to think they knew what they were doing for longevity

A drag motor isnt going to see the extended high rpm sessions a road race motor will and JUN built more road race motors than they ever did drag (still built a 8 sec SR20 in 90's) so for street use I would keep the weights/add weight to compensate high rpm use and help the motor last longer even if it didnt unlock 2-5whp...

Of course light weight pistons/rods help offset the forces at 10-11K but you get the point
