harmonic balancer question?
So I finished reassembling my motor (b18b) and go to put the harmonic balancer on and notice it's a little loose on the crankshaft and the key way on the crankshaft has a corner of it cracked off. So as of right now I put the balancer on the crankshaft and torqued it to spec (140 ft lbs). It seems fine spinning the motor over it's not loose or have any play but I would like a second opinion before dropping it in the engine bay.
I bought the motor fully disassembled, that's why I didn't notice it sooner.
Thanks guys!

Re: harmonic balancer question?
Is it the crankshaft itself that is chipped?
Sounds like it is ok as long as you can feel no play after the nut is torqued to specs and the balancer is exactly where it should be. However, I would consider this. Honda engines are extremely well balanced. Everything on that motor has been balanced perfectly. If anything that spins, moves in unison with the motor looses weight or peices, I believe it could potentially have after effects. Maybe short term, maybe long term. Just something to consider.
