Default camshaft bolt problem!!!!!

i recently blew a head gasket and while i was putting it back in i was checking the torque specs for the cam holders and it said 86in-lbs which i have no idea how to get that since im using a torque wrench with ft-lbs... Stupid me i was not reading properly and torqued it to 86ft-lbs... i kinda knew something was wrong because it kept torquing and by the time i realized it i snapped a bolt. So my question is... is it fixable the head and wut is the convertion to ft-lbs?

86 inch/lbs.--

86 divided by 12=7.17 ft/lbs

so 86 in/lbs is roughly 7 ft/lbs of torque

yea i did the _/12 too but i wasnt sure if that was the rite way to convert because i tightened another bolt to 7 ft/lb and it just felt too loose......

but my biggest problem is that the bolt that snapped is inside the head and i need to know if tapping it out, or any other method, would work to get it out???????

did ONLY the head snap off or did part of the threaded bolt come off with it? If you remove the cam cap, is there any bolt material sticking up? perhaps vise-grip pliers would help....

the bolt snapped in half and inside the hole where it goes so none if it is sticking out

would i be able to run with that 1 bolt missing on just one of the bridges????

i would not run with one bolt like that.

you are probably going to have to extract it or drill it out and re-thread it.

good luck!!

Once again, here we have a case of someone just wanting a random stranger off the internet to tell them its OK to take a short-cut.

Have at it, my friend. Have at it.

personally, if it was me, i wouldn't risk effing up my engine over a dumb bolt.

i'd pick up a left handed drill and try and dig that sucker out of there.

just my .02

If the cam cap is alluminum, just weld a nut to the snapped bolt, the weld will only work on the screw and the nut, it wont weld the alluminum, i did that on an oil pump bolt on my gsr block, worked way better than trying to use a bolt extractor on a 6mm bolt.

that head is easily fixable and shouldnt cost anything more than a 12 pack of heineken...a carbide drill, bridgeport, and a careful concentric eyeball will do it right
