TL Noob quick questions
Im in the market for a 04 tl 6spd and found on at a local dealer for 13k and 83k miles. I have owned several Hondas and Acuras before and know alot about them, but not about the TL.
What are the severice intervals for timing belt and water pump on this car?
What are the most comon problem for them? Is it safe to buy at 83k like a civic?
Any other input woulf be great. Thanks

105K for t-belt and water pump
not many problems with a manual car but you DEFINATELY WANT TO HAVE THEM DO A CHECK TO SEE IF THE ENGINE HAS BEEN OVER-REVED...
Any J series V6 that has been properly maintained should make it 300K+

As long as you understand and accept that the car is much more complicated and more expensive to repair than a Civic, I'd say go for it.
Be wary of that particular car. $13,000 sounds way too cheap for an '04 TL. You can't even buy a good used TSX for that kind of money yet.

Re: TL Noob quick questions
some of the 6mt has the 3rd gear issue, but in most cases gm syncromesh can smooth it out
most of the recalls or tsb's are on the 04 and early 05 models
my p/s hose ruptured while on vacation in florida last summer crown acura in clearwater took care of me they change the wiper motor and the p/s hose no charge because its a safty recall they also gave me a loaner vehicle a RDX (turbo)

some have a center panel b can issue, of course 08-16 and 08-14 the p/s hose and wiper recalls.
as said before, $200 for just brembo pads on the manual trans tl's. people flip at that price so they just go buy some ebc's. the rotors are very soft as well and groove up very easily. some brake jobs will need the rotors replaced as well.
other problems. window regulators, window run channels, mirrors click when going down in reverese, 3rd gear grind, random lights go out in heater switches, air bag starts to fade through on dash..thats about all i can think of now.
