I was talking to my mother about her 2003 aura 3.2TL. We were talking about fuel economy and she said when she first got her car it was used and it got over 30mpg 32-33.... while under warranty she was having it serviced at the dealership and they said there was a recall on some part. She does not remember what it was, but the replacement was free. Since the day they changed the part she said that she has never gotten 30mpg and now 25-28mpg at best... Has any one run into this before?

Nope, never ran into that problem, but I think the only recall for that car was a timing belt tensioner. Maybe the transmission as well, but I don't know for sure, it's been a long time, so my memory is a bit foggy. Timing belt tensioner will not affect anything relating to fuel economy.

My instincts tell me that it is probably more related to a subtle shift in driving habits as she got used to the car.

When I first got my 2010 TL, I would also get 29 or 30 miles per gallon.

Nowadays, I average 24-25 miles per gallon travelling the same mixed route that I'd always driven.

Considering the size and weight of the vehicle, and the fact that I don't hesitate to put my clog down, 24-25 miles per gallon is very good.

Well thanks for the info! Im going to get her invoices on ther servise done and see for sure what it was. She had the car for several years befor. the part was changed.
