Icon6 98 TL ignition switch

Hi, my son's 98 3.2 TL ignition switch is playing up. We're having real difficulty getting the key out. I won't turn fully to off, and we have to jiggle it around until it goes to the "o" position. I plan to buy a new assembly and fit it myself. Can anyone advise on the procedure? Thanks

the process is pretty simple and straight forward once you remove the covers you will see the ignition switch assy and the harness it is covered by a plastic cover which once the screws are removed you will see the remainder to remove and you can use a center punch to revers the break away bolts loose so you can unscrew them.

I personally use a dremel cut off wheel. I make the blank head screws into a flat head screw or standard screw. You might need a pretty big screwdriver to break loose the screws.

That sounds like more of a problem with a worn or incorrectly cut key than the ignition tumbler. Have you tried having another key made? They're only a few dollars from Acura. I'd try that option first - it's cheap.
