CRV engine whining noise
I just picked up a base model 99 crv with 120,000kms on the clock. Whenever i step on the gas I hear a pretty distinct whining noise, what could it be? Thanks for your help...

Hi, I,m new here.
We just bought a 2001 CRV with 245,000 kms.
Every time I start the engine, I hear a whistling or a very high pitch sound coming from the engine where the drive belts locations. I took each drive belt one at a time, first the belt that drives the power steering, then start the engine, noise still present, put back the belt and pull out AC belt, noise gone. So I suspect AC bearing and idler pulley. So I sprayed wd40 on the idler pulley specially the shaft, install the belt and presto, noise or whistling sound gone.
