What to do with a 3G TL with a dead trans?
Need advice on what to do with a 2007 Acura TL with a dead transmission. My brother has a 2007 TL in mint condition, with about 200k on the clock. A couple weeks ago the car wouldn't go over 40mph. He took it to his mechanic who tried a couple things to fix it (but warned that he suspected they wouldn't be successful). The only other option now is a trans rebuild/replace, and the repair will likely equal the value of the car, depending on where/how we have the work done.
So, what's the best move here?
1. Try to source a JDM trans and install it and keep the car, knowing It'll never be worth what he puts in to it?
2. Sell it as-is? (If so, where? Ebay?)
3. Any other options not thought of?
He doesn't really have the space or time to part it out. Any suggestions welcomed.

Where are you located? Used car market is pretty hot right now. Someone will probably buy it, fix it, and then make a couple bucks on it if you don't want to do the repairs.

We're located in NoVa, just outside of DC. Stone Ridge VA to be exact.
Would ebay be the best place to find the right buyer? Here on HT Marketplace?

Not sure in your market. Here craigslist has been most effective for me. Autotrader was dead. Faceball marketplace gets hits. Post it everywhere including a TL fourm. It should sell pretty quickly.

Leave $1000 on the bones for someone to make after parts to make some labor. Good starting point anyway. Factor in how quickly you want it to move vs what you need to make.
These are not real numbers but, say a running TL gets $6000. Transmission and associated parts run $1500. Less the $1000 for someone to make on labor. So ask $3500.
