Grudge match- 00ITR vs. 03Type S ::UPDATE!!::
So my buddy and cousin are good friends but had a little argument at the bar the other day about whos faster. ITR has I/H/E and type S has I/H/E hondata and N2 cams. well be heading to GL raceway. To make this interesting a nice steak dinner is on the line at Gibsons steak house here in chicago. i have my money on my cousins S but who knows. The ITR also has no back seats and hes a pretty good driver. My cousins not too bad i guess. Anyways just want to see some opinions. Whos would you guys bet on??
UPDATE!!!!
Buddy with the ITR wins. So they did a best out of 5 at IDY raceway, GL was closed. Best out of 5 quarter mile runs just like Pinks for who ever watches the show. The biggest problem for the S was traction. Spun the tires for first two races even with mini burnout(COLD day). TypeR ran 13.7-13.9 on all runs, this was very impressive. S won the third race by a fender(had to start with low rev launch). S had bad launch on 4th race and gave it up to the ITR. cousin bought dinner at Gibson steakhouse for lossing. Overall fun day!! If the weather/tires were better I have to say the S would have won, not sure but this would be my guess.

Re: (roll5104life)
the K right now has more power than the B series in the ITR. if the driver in the dc5 knows how to drive, there should be no reason why the dc5 cant win. Just because a car has no backseats wont give it a huge advantage. the back seats in my prelude along with all the plastic panels in the back weighed maybe 5 pounds. its a lot of foam in these seats. the front seats weigh a lot more though.

Re: (eMpAtHy)
with both bone stock , its a drivers race honestly. the ITR makes up for the less power advantage with LSD and of course being a smaller car (less weight). but as for being modified. i would probably put my money on the type-s. i would be more certain if i was to have knowledge of the brands of their mods. i mean the s could have an ebay intake and offbrand exhaust and header and yeah. that **** sucks .
but what the hell i drive a type-s and i know how both of these cars run , Type-S ftw

It's a driver's race, period. Both cars are pretty close in straight-line performance.
I'd bet on whoever was the best driver of the two.

i think it would be the type s, it has cams and hondata k-pro, the itr would get it if it wasnt for the cams and kpro. cams and k-pro make a big difference if it is tuned rite also, if its not good tuning then i would say the type r

he only has a reflash with cams? I cant remember all the cam abbreviations but if those N2's are aftermarket (meaning not honda and I am almost sure they are not) the car wont run right with just the reflash. My money is on the itr. What year is the S?

N2 cams are from toda, and they have proven to be very powerful. even if it is just a hondata reflash, the type s has an advantage. if both drivers were equal, the type s should beat the r easily.

Personal experience: my buddy had an 00 ITR with full JDM front dynoed at 159 WHP intake, exhaust. i have an 06 Stock type-S, so ive always been afraid of R's i hold them highly in my heart as my favorite car so i was a little leary about messing with it. so we were cruising at about a steady 60 and then both got on it at the same time and surprisingly at 110 when we let off i was the in front and the front of his car was at the middle of my door. but thats me with a stock type-s. Is the ITR tuned? with the reflash on the K ( according to Honda-tuining's I/H/E/reflash) they made 195 at the wheels and thats without cams, if the K is tuned right it should expletive the ITR up. From a dead stop the ITR will probably pull a little becuase of the LSD. Depending if the ITR is tuned id say close race but id put my money on the Type-s. K's react great to tuning no disrespect to the ITR tho amzing car

A bolt-on ITR (with good boltons) is a high 13 second car if driven properly. The RSX-S needs to be a low/mid 13 second car to win 'easily'.
Again, it will be a drivers race. The ITR can make up a ton of time at launch thanks to the LSD and lightweight.

That's funny, because my ITR put down 171 @ the wheels and ran a 14.4 @ 97mph, bone stock.
159 @ the wheels with bolt-ons, if on a dynojet, is pretty weak. Your friend needs some tuning or other maintenance done to his motor.
And let's remember that racing from a roll is much different than racing from a dead stop. The ITR will beat the RSX to 60' by a couple tenths and maintain that lead for a little while. Heck, a Prelude will challenge an ITR and RSX on a roll.
Again, it is a driver's race.

Sounds almost exactly like what I said would happen. I'm not sure why so many people doubt the ITR...it's a fast car (with a good driver) and boltons help that motor (B18C5) a decent bit too.
Kudos for taking the cars to an actual dragstrip and not doing the ricer-runs on the highways
