I notice this too on my Si. I know that at 2200rpm, the vtec is engaged but I dont understand while the car stutters. It seems to only do this when I lug the car in a gear and then step on it. When I drive it hard, there is no stuttering.

Re: stuttering problem... (Yoshi02Si)
Stuttering, stumble whatever you call it, shouldn't be "inherent in all EP3's". If it's a glitch in how the car was built, should there be a recall?
Is Honda working on a fix for this problem? Is it ECU related?
Was planning on taking a test drive next week, want to replace my 93 del Sol Si with the EP3 as a daily driver. Pricing on the 2003 Si seems pretty good right now.
What is up with the stutter problem? Why don't more people complain about this fault? Even with the price being right, a engineering problem or ECU problem should be addressed by Honda, shouldn't it?

Re: stuttering problem... (Willard)
I read that thread as well. It provides a couple of possible reasons, but no way to fix the problem.
Is Honda looking in to a fix?

I have hondata and the problem did not go away. It is much more pronounced on hot days. When the temp is cooler I have not noticed the problem as bad.

I dont think the outside temp or engine temp would have to do anything with it... I live in Tx its been arround 100 here and I have not had any stuttering problems!

Because its really not that big of deal. It only happens once in a while when the engine is cold. After it warms up, it goes away.

What modifications do you have? A stock EP3 does not do it nearly as bad as a modified EP3. At least that's what I have experienced. And on hot days, the car does it worse.
Again though, it's only when you are putting around from 1st to 2nd and you decide to give 2nd a little more gas when you shift.
