REVIEW: Mugen Airbox EP3?
Anybody have any reviews or thoughts on this? Pictures would help. Also, doesnt the design scoop up air from the top of the back of the hood?

I think that was the Gruppe M (K&N) intake.

okay itll prolly not fit 80% sure....
itll give you more HP yip its higher than the vavle cover itself...
am Gruppe M makes the Mugen airboxes and they taught KN everything they know so basically gruppe m is behind all this hehe 12HP more at wheels from it no it wont fit the LHD Ep3
gruppe m is all CF
mugen

I'm not sure about how valid the reference of Gruppe M making Mugen's airbox is.
But the extent of Gruppe M's association with K&N isn't what you said. They are a company that works exclusively with K&N produced filter elements. Everything else they fabricate themselves. And thus, bought the right to use the K&N brand name in Japan.
Trust me the K&N guys here @ their main HQ in Riverside California USA doesn't have much interest in Gruppe M parts.

Actually, comptech was going to use that design for their first ice box for the RSX/EP3, but later scrapped the design because it didn't show a good gain in performance. That's why we have the ice box that's out right now.
I thought the Mugen air box sucked air into the box right above the radiator? That's why the Mugen front bumper has that cut out on the top (driver) left hand side.

OK, then, who can tell us why Comptech wouldn't use that basic design?
There seems to be enough testimony that the Gruppe M does produce 10-12 HP.
And does anyone know what it is, specifically, that keeps the Gruppe M from working on USDM cars? I remember that for the longest time people wouldn't sell the Mugen or Spoon air intakes to USDM, but it turned out that all you had to do in that case was to bend an AC line.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I dont think people will know the problem until they try it... its kinda like the JDM exhaust like the Buddy Club Spec III and the Fujitsubo where it would only fit the JDM EP3-R and to come find out you only need 4" to the b pipe to fit the USDM cars....

For one thing, the master cylinder and the clutch reservoir is in the way on USDM models.
