Jumped Timing?
02 RSX S
Alright went out to start my car this morning did that typical cold clank from the starter then sounded like an angry *** subbie and stalled. Tried starting it again same thing. Gave it gas still same thing and shut down again. Pushed car in garage and popped the hood since it sounded like it was missing hard...found out it jumped timing, anyone have this problem and have any ideas on how to get my car back running right?

How did you jump timing with a timing chain? What did you do to come to this conclusion? Are you sure it's not just mis-firing because of a bad coil pack or spark plug?

How many miles on the motor? If its more than 100,000, I would change the chain and tensionor....When chain wear, they get longer( the pins that hold the chains togather wear and as they get smaller and the holes they ride in get larger, the chain gets longer). Hope you did not bend a valve....

Re: Jumped Timing?
It is pretty common when you rev to 8500rpm or more often, and since it is controled by oil pressure it doesnt have full tension on it when it is first started. That is why people with built all motor K series use a hybrid racing or toda tensioners.

Re: Jumped Timing?
Yes it does. Take a tensioner apart and look at the spring inside the shaft. that little sissy thing is what hold tension on it when it has no oil pressure
