Frustrated by mysterious clunking noise
Hi everyone, I have a 1.4L 2003 EP1 Civic (UK) with a significantly loud, deep clunking noise coming from my car which you can feel through the floor pan sometimes. It's been there for a couple of years now at least and it occurs when travelling over potholes and sounds like it's coming from both sides of the front of the car. It doesn't happen during braking or steering conditions, just over lumps and bumps in the road.
So far I have changed:
- Outer and inner tie-rod ends
- Lower arms including bushes
- Lower ball joints
- Drop-links (anti-roll bar links)
- Anti-roll bar bushes
- Shocks (2 years old, no leaks)
- Steering rack
I've also checked the engine mounts and couldn't see any problem, there was no movement of the engine either, the springs look fine too, the exhaust is good....can anyone suggest anything else I should inspect? I can't think of anything more and it's driving me nuts now!
Thank you.
