Considering the Ep3 as the next purchase (currently have 92 si), whay kind of power numbers does the stock engine have? and what are you looking to accomplish with this swap?

stock engine has 160, k20a2 has about 200. the k20a3 (stock ep3 motor) has no potential and is pretty pointless to do anything with besides get good gas mileage and its eco friendly. you can make good numbers on a stock a2 also and its a simple swap

Re: Everything you need to swap a k20a2 into an EP3
I did this swap for a friend. 03 ep3 and I used the k20a2 engine harness. I ran into 2 small issues that I havne't seen covered anywhere unless i missed it.
1. the AC no longer works, is there a difference in wiring pin outs on the ecu?
2. water temp on the gauge cluster no longer works either. do I need to add a sensor on the radiator hose?
thanks.

Yes but I'd expect to fall out of Vtec when shifting.

Re: Everything you need to swap a k20a2 into an EP3
If i wanted to put a k20a2 into a base model rsx(k20a3) do i need the k20a2 harness or can i use the a3 harness and will the a3 harness plug into the a2 ecu?
Leaving the 5 speed tranny for now.
I just want to swap the motor so im thinking i just need the motor and ecu, am i missing anything?

no you use your ep3 ecu to get it to a dealer then you have them rekey the RSX ecu to work with your factory key and immobilizer.
I don't understand why you guys don't just do an A2 head swap with some high compression pistons.

Nice write up. So you had no problem pulling the engine the the transmission attached and everything, very cool. I think if you swapped the crank pulley from the a3 to the a2 you wouldn't have the belt at the edge of the specs... maybe someone else can confirm this?

This is very true. The stock motor can easily get to the k20a2 but well if you have the time and money than I guess you can go for the k20a2 but thats alot of money for sligthly faster engine. Don't they range from like 4500-6000k?
