Icon4 Ep3 Hood wont fully Latch Close

When I was changing my brakes I stuck the jack under the front of the car and when I went to jack it up the hood sort of lifted a bit so I lowered the jack down and when I tried to close my hood now it wont close all the way the latch catches but it just wont lock. Any help on how I can fix this would be great. Thanks

What part of the car did you jack from? You need to jack from a cross member or lift point. Jacking up the unibody will just bend and break stuff if it isn't a secure location. I would guess you pushed up your bumper or something?

Instead of jacking it up by the front subframe, you probably jacked it by the bottom of the radiator support and bent the whole front bulkhead.

Hopefully not.

Typically, when the hood won't lock, it's because the cable is sticking or the latch is gunked up. When that happens, all you have to do is push down on the lever that the return spring is supposed to pull back (but cannot for whatever reason). This will allow the latch to lock, at least until you can repair or replace the cable/latch. Be aware that a problem with a sticking cable or latch may mean that you won't be able to open it with the release cable once closed. If that happens, you're in for a hateful project . . .

this is a pretty old thread but i was working on my car and my jack kinda went out and i think it bent my front because my hood closes, but not the whole way. It does lock, but i can still stick my fingers in and touch the latch. How can this be fixed?
