CEL and 4000rpm rev limiter
04 Si w/ k20a3 (header, cat back, intake)
I haven't had a chance to scan it yet but if I clear the code the car drives fine for about 10 mins then it throws the CEL again and kicks the limiter down to 4000 rpm.
Any thoughts?

ECU is going into safe/limp mode. Obviously something is wrong and I'd stop driving it and find out the problem ASAP.

Race header? If so, you'll need a O2 sensor bung. It's like five bucks.

Possibly. That would be something I'd def. try first. Drain out the old and put in some new.
Especially if it was 87--that tends to go stale quicker than 92+ does.

Second O2 sensor would not cause this. It would just throw a CEL. 1st O2 sensor would put it into limp mode, but chances of that are rare unless he damaged it or something.

Re: (WhiteOnRice)
Just a megan shorty w/ stock cat. O2 was never removed or even unhooked from the harness.
I got almost all the 87 out of it and filled it w/ berrymans B12(EFI cleaner stuff) and 93.
I'm just worried it a cam sensor or something like that going bad and cutting out once it gets hot.

did you just do the headers....because if you were by some chance to unplug or break vtec oil pressure sensor or vtec solenoids your car wouldn't rev over 4,000 rpm... maybe you unpluged one and forgot...

Re: (fridaytech)
actually i just put the motor in.
everything is plugged in as I've check about 8 times.
It runs correctly, idles smooth, warms up, fan comes on and I can drive it for about 20 mins and then the light comes on and it quits reving.
Work has me pulling 15hr days so I didn't get to mess w/ it last night.

For what ever reason this engine reads low on the stick. I have almost 5 quarts in it. It was bone dry on oil when I dropped it in. I'll add some more.

I didn't notice a VTEC solenoid on my A3; it doesn't have it on the exhaust cam, after all.
