I did an oil change and spark plug change last night. After the spark plug change my car wouldnt start. So i re-tightend the spark plugs and the car started twice, and the third time it wouldnt start anymore. Everytime i tried to turn it on it seemed like the crank is getting weaker and weaker. The car also started throwing a check engine light, came out to be code P0341. I used my CEL reader to clear out the code. So i switched it back to the old spark plugs and it started again, but this morning my car died on the highway and the check engine light came back on. I was able to start it to get it back to my house. It struggling to crank. any ideas?

2002 rsx base model. 138,xxx miles.

If u bought anything other than an iridium plug ur probly gonna have problems and they have to be a resistor type plug I recommend ngk ifr7g11 that's the own plug personally wouldn't buy anything else

1.your spark plugs could be out of gap check that first . 2.check and make sure all of you wires are routed properly as you could be receving cam sensor interferance . 3.your cam sensor could be no good check and test it if need be replace it. and go to acura and get oem spark plugs for rsx for about 80.00$$ your week crankig has to do with cam sensor interferance

where is the cam sensor located and how would i test it?

If u didn use a resistor type plug u are gonna have cam sensor interference

first thing you do is go to acura dealer and get oem spark plugs that will fix your car. check all your wires you handeld

I already suggested that the part number is ngk ifr7g11 get the at orielly auto parts there about 50 dollars cheaper or clubrsx.com

A resistor type plug keeps the electrical current from interfering with sensitive sensors jus buy the own ngkifr7g11 an ull never have problems

So replace the sparkplug wires with resistor type plugs and reset the CEL code. Or do i have to do somthing with the sensors? Can the spark plug wires be the cause to the weak cranking?

nope you dont have to do anything to your sensors just change with good plugs

^agreed buy the ngk that I mentioned there are no spark plug wires on a rsx cuz they are coil packs u probly have weak spark cuz the plugs u bought are probly not iridium an ur probly throwing a code cuz there non resisto....what kinda plugs did u buy

Ya never use anything but ngk in a Honda motor go to orielly tell them u want a ngk 7746 BOSH PLATINUM DON CREATE ENOUGH spark and u need to find out what cel u are throwing

so i changed the spark plugs to ngk r1. cleared the CEL and it started right up. after 2 mins or so the CEL came back. it was P0341 (camshaft position sensor circuit range/performance) and P0661 (intake manifold tuning valve control bank 1). engine starts bogging when the lights turn on. Any ideas? where is the camshaft position sensor located and where is bank 1 located?

I jus Google ngk r1 can't find anything bout them u should have jus got the plug that Honda an I both recommended I keep tryn to help u but u keep doin the opposite so I cant really help u u probly fried ur sensors cuz the BOSH plugs u put in are non resistor

therw are two the one closest to u is sensor a the one closest to exhaust is b so there for a would be bank one

I did get the ngk 7746....they say ngk r1 on them.....but yea after I swaped them the car is still throwing cel after I cleared it...

That's really weird I have a box right here the box is silver says laser iridium on front part number on side is IFR7G-11KS go to this site http://www.spoonertuner.com/manuals and download a Hayes manual for free an trouble shoot ur ur sensors there probly fried from using a non resistor type plug

so i switched the two sensor plugs (a&b) and the car ran fine for a good 5 mins. After taking it around the block the car shut off on me. It struggled to turn on and after a couple of cranks it finally turned back on. I had to rev the motor to keep it from dieing. Can it be my chain skipping a tooth or should i just go and buy a new sensor? the Code is still throwing p0341.

Of course its not gonna run right is u switched the sensors around they read diff signals follow the link I posted an diagnose the problem using a Hayes manual in the link I put up

so i fixed the problem. Switched the spark plugs to ngk (car started up but would shut off). While the car was dead i over cranked the car and it caused the chain to stretch which threw off the timming by 1/4 inch. The car would start up, idel for 4 sec and shut off. When you gas it, the throttle laggs. So i ordered the timming chain and tensioner from clubrsx.com and had my buddy replace it. Removed the CEL and car runs like a champ now.

was all that caused by using cheap spark plugs in your rsx?

this is why I always bring my car issues here before I do anything, even for simple stuff!
