wut's the different between the engines JDM B18C 96 spec and JDM B18C 98 spec?
the engine model number for JDM B18C 96 spec is B18C3, but the B18C 98 spec is B18C, so am i correct or they are the same model number appear on the engine?

so both of them have the same model number...
then how can we identify which one is 98 spec?
coz i just bought an engine, and the seller said it's year 2000 engine, but my friend said it is 96 spec...
96 and 2000 is 4 years different and
i am kinda worry about this, since if it is really 96 spec, then the price i bought this engine would be too high...

If it came with an ECU... give us the code for it and we can tell you what year the ecu is.

If it's a 2 piece header, then it was likely produced between 96-97. If it's the famous one piece header then you've probably got the engine you want.

There should also be a production date on the head, above the header. Something like 9/6, 9/7, 9/8, etc.

None of these will give you 100% verification, but they will help you out.

And no, Japan never had a B18c3 as far as I know. I know they were made, but they were not the 1996 JDM ITR engine like some websites like to think. Someone prove me wrong....

it's 2 pieces header, the 4-2-1 one...
then it is mostly 96 spec engine...
this is sad... why this world always filled up with such these business people always telling lie to cheat people money...

so the 96 spec engine is weaker than the 98 spec, is that true?

if its a 96 spec, then the power rating is slightly different:
-98+ spec have more agressive cam profiles (same as CTR cams)
-4-1 one piece header
-tranny has tighter ratio.
- all this will produce slightly more torque
