I did a search and I found that removing the A/C belt will not give you any horsepower. The A/C only causes a loss of power when you turn it on, so there is no sense in removing the belt right? But does the engine turn the belt to the A/C all the time anyways even when not using the A/C?

There is some friction when the A/C is turned off. Removing the belt will help a little bit but not much. Max. 2 HP I guess.....
The weight of the complete A/C is more important. If you don't need it, remove it.

The crank pulley turns the A/C belt all the time, yes. But the A/C compressor has a clutch on it, so when it's off, the pulley just spins. Friction would be very minimal.

Removing the belt would be worthless if you ask me, but as DutchITR said, remove your A/C if you don't need it, as the weight of the system is much more substantial than any power the spinning belt is robbing from the motor.

Thanks for the info guys. That's all I needed to know. I think I will just leave the belt on, I need my air for the summer.
