Default Yes! Another Weight Reduction Question? Undercoating

Has anyone ever removed their undercoating of their R? Yes undercoating! If you did:
1. What did you use to remove it? (tools or chemicals)
2. How long did it take?
3. Do you think it was worth the time?
4. How much did you think it weighed?

please dont respond and say why? Why do you want to do that? I want to do it because i can and want to! It's my car and I do what i please! Just need a little advise. Thanks in advance guys

FYI. I already did all the common weight reduction tips. So dont post other weight reduction tips.

considering your 90 previous posts have been less than constructive, im not quite sure what to say but ok, if you want the undercoating off, just use a whole lot of aircraft remover/paint thinner/industrial acid and start scraping.

you've also done all other common weight reduction tips so dont post any others?

i guess you've replaced all panels with fiberglass, glass with lexan, took off front/rear bumper supports, side crash support under rear seat, stripped interior, removed dash, etc?

i'm not suggesting, just pointing out you need to stop posting.

My guess is that it would be a real chore and how much can the OEM rubberized coating really weigh?

Soup, pull your head outa your ***.

I've seen Lotus's R, its undercoated. Probably has about 20-30 pounds of the **** plastered to the bottom of his R. A heat gun and scraper would probably help to remove it, just be careful where you point it.

I would say that the effort to remove the undercoating would not equal the results you would get. I wouldn't bother.

Why don't you save us all the grief and not say anything at all....

And, out your 12200+ posts, you haven't been too constructive either. I am so baffled as to why you haven't been banned yet

maybe in your own sick deranged little pea you call a brain its funny, but to the rest of the intelligent world, you sound pretty retarded. I hope a mod finally has the sense to take you out soon, because none of us really need you here!

Ok. Let me get serious for one second here, (only one second though)

well, between the "i got a stock itr, but i wanna weight reduce, will lightweight lugnuts shave 2 seconds off my 1/4 mile?" and the "what is the color code for Champ white?" threads, there is really no content in this forum much anymore except OT threads...I dont think my rare flaming isnt out of place.

I agree with Dave in sense that the R/R forum seems to be the only place left that has not turned into SHO or clubsi..

Now those with your noses held up high, thinking "wow, soup **** is a real bastage", maybe you should consider this a internet forum for once, and look out the window once a while
[/serious]

i'm now off to damn work on a saturday, you ladies have fun

edit: occaisional --> rare these days.

he just asked a question...if you can't answer respectfully, then keep your hands off the keyboard.

Bottom-line: ALL OF US are tired of your abusiveness. There are better ways of having fun with n00bs; you just take it a step too far and way too often.

My only concern w/removing the undercoating is it actually has a purpose.

removing it could lead to early rustage on your R .

If you take into account that this could be a full on track car, then I go by the cliche of leave no rock unturned.

You could get one of those chassis rotissery's (whatever they are really called?) or one of those nifty car stands that puts the whole car on its side.

Pull the gastank, remove all associated lines and suspension arms etc. and go hardcore with a propane torch and scrapers.
