USDM DC2 Steering wheel differences?
Is there any cosmetic differences between the different 2000 model Integra Steering wheels (GSR, RS, Type-R, LS etc.)?
I got a "USDM Type-R Steering wheel" for dirt cheap and it's in imaculate condition and I was just wondering if there is a sure fire way to check to verify that it is a legit Type-R wheel. Thanks

That is not true. 98 and up steering wheels on integ are all leather wrapped.
The only difference is that there are no cruise switches on the itr steering wheel. They are the exact same wheel as other 98 up models. Actually you could make an itr steering wheel out of a gsr wheel by buying the cruise block off plate for five bucks from honda.

Re: USDM DC2 Steering wheel differences? (jdmspoonitr)
Does anyone have a pic of what a USDM ITR steering wheel looks like? Whether or not this is a true ITR steering wheel, it's still a very nice upgrade for my hatch, I just dont want to get called out if I say its an ITR wheel and its really a GSR wheel.

The 1998 and 1999 brochures in front of me clearly show the GS-R with a plain, non-wrapped wheel. However, I just checked the 2001 brochure, and the wheel is indeed leather-wrapped on that model. You are also correct in that ITR wheels will not have the cruise control switches.

Well, to be honest, besides the cruise control switches, a 2001 (and I assume a 2000) GS-R wheel is an ITR wheel. It's similar to saying "ITR tail lights".

I had a '98 GS-R before the ITR.
The '98 GS-R came with a leather wrapped wheel.</TD></TR></TABLE>
This is getting interesting...
Well, after carefully consulting the brochures and reading the tiny print and footnotes, here's what I've uncovered:
1998 brochure ->
All photos depict non-wrapped wheel. Specifications page states, "Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift **** -- GS model only; Optional on GS-R
1999 brochure ->
Again, all photos depict the non-wrapped wheel. Specifications page states, "Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift ****." "Leather Steering-wheel cover" is listed under Acura Integra Accessories section.
2001 brochure ->
All photos are of leather-wrapped wheel. Specifications page states, "Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift ****." "Leather Steering-wheel cover" is no longer listed under Accessories section.

Yes, but that's just a matter of an easy, 15-minute retrofit, right?

so to hijack this thread... heh...
while we're talking about wheels - does a DC5 SRS wheel fit on a DC2 teg?

dont get an ITR wheel for your hatch as an upgrade, especially a USA ITR wheel.
at least save up for a momo airbagless wheel or a jdm airbag momo one.
the USA ones suck.

Re: USDM DC2 Steering wheel differences? (canuck-mx6)
Well I've driven a few US Spec ITRs and I absolutely LOVE the way the steering wheel feels, especially compared to my shitty Civic wheel.
How does the JDM ITR Non-SRS steering wheel feel? Is it made out of that same soft leather that is used on the US-Spec wheel? I figure it has a lighter turning feel to it, similar to most aftermarket wheels, but I have never personally felt one of these.

humm... I am not sure about that with the US spec wheel, I felt like driving a bus with I have it... and I thought they were the same diameter as the Civic wheels.
<- who remove his stocks one 2 weeks after picked up the car. =P

They are the same diameter. Just the actual feel of the material was a million times better. Especially when compared to my 11 year old wore out steering wheel.

Re: USDM DC2 Steering wheel differences? (94si94cx)
I went and glanced at a 97 Integra and noticed that the Acura logo on the steering wheel is different than my wheel that I got (just another difference). The 97 had the word "Acura" imprinted on it. Mine has the "A" imprinted on it. Just a little bit of info I thought I'd add.
