service limit on ITR front brake pads
In the helms manual it says that the standard thickness of ITR front pads is 10.5-11.5 mm(does not include thickness of backing plate). Then it says that the service limit is 1.6mm. does this mean that after 1.6mm of wear they should be repaced or when there is 1.6mm of pad material left they should be replaced? 1.6mm seems awfully thin, but 9-10mm of pad material left seems like plenty. my pads have about 9mm of pad material left.

Stock pads should have the squealers on them. when u hear some gawd alfaul noise, then its time to change them

Keep an eye on the pads. You can look at the edge of the pad through the spokes in the wheel, without removing the wheel. If they're wearing evenly, that will tell you how much is left. Just remember that this isn't foolproof; it's possible that they're not wearing evenly, and you can't see the inside pad without removing the wheel.
If you're driving your car on the track, you're going to want to replace the pads before they wear down that thin. If you're just driving on the street, you can wear them down to the 1.6 mm limit. Only thing is, it's kind of tough to estimate tenths of a mm. Change them at 2 mm...

If you've got 9mm left, put them in a box & buy Hawk pads to run street/track. Keep the stockers for when you get stuck wearing down to nothing on the track & you've got yourself that extra 9mm set in the box
Trust me - you'll like the HPS (clean/no squeak) or HP+ (dirty/some squeak) for the street and track whichever you prefer. You can run either as a daily pad. I run HP+ myself & they are cheaper then the damn stocks!

Do aftermarket/performance have a longer lifespan than stock pads when used for street/track applications? Cheers!
