Default Ready for Synthetic?

i have a little under 3,000 miles now on my car and have not changed the oil since i picked it up from the dealer. i want to get the best cylinder wall scoring and do whats best for my car. any advice would be appreciated.

should i....
- wait another 1,000 with the current non-synthetic oil.
- change oil now with non synthetic and wait another 3,000 to put synthetic in.
- change now and go straight to synthetic.
thanks

Change with regular oil and OEM filter, wait another 3K is my recommendation, and what I did.

I know some people will yell search, but whatever.
Heres the deal, Honda puts breakin oil in new hondas and acuras. If you're dealer doesn't know anything about it, call other dealers. Some seem to not have a clue. Anyway, don't change it out early! Leave it in for at least 5,000 miles. It seals the rings.
After that, I was told to switch to synthetic between 7,000 and 10,000 miles. So run regular oil for 3k or so, and switch.

I changed mine at about 2000 miles to syn. oil. No problem so far. I have 35,000 miles on my R now. The reason I changed at less than 3000 miles is I bought my R at Nov 97 and which has been sitting at the floor for more than 6 months, and it took me aonther 6 months to log in those 200 miles. For it is almost a year for those oil in my engine....

I changed mine at 1800 miles, no problems. As far as the breakin oil stuff. I was told by more than one person that the breakin oil was not used on the 00' or 01' models...however, i think the 97's and 98's had it.

My friend just bought a 2001 prelude 2 weeks ago, and they told him it had it. I would imagine if they put in the prelude motor, they put it in ours.

I changed my oil after 2500 miles...didn't put synthetic in until 10,000...that is what was recommended to me from a few sources...let it break in w/ regular oil then change between 10K-15K...

To tell you all the truth I dont think it matters whatsoever. Don't make something stupid like this turn into an argument . I know many who have done it both ways. Once you go to synthetic though, dont go back to regular!

If it didn't matter, why would honda do it?

Preludes are assembled in the US. Rs are assembled in Japan.
