I am facing this problem whenever I close my throttle abruptly at say above 3000rpm, I heard this loud noise coming from my engine area. It sounds like its coming from the gearbox. It sounds like "WARRRRRRRRRR" when you try to pronounce it loudly. What can it be? I'm on a Spoon LSD. Does all DC2Rs with LSD sound like that when you release the throttle? I have a bad drive shaft seal at the moment which is leaking MTF very slowly. Could it be my gearbox is out of transmission fluid?

Couple things..Are you sure its coming from the tranny? What gear are you in when this happens? Will it make the noise in neutral? With the clutch depressed? Do you have to be moving to make the noise?

Well..Since you have a leak I would hope that you monitor the tranny fluid regularly, so go check it.

It happens when I am slowing down in any gear. Makes no difference which gear I am in. There is no noise when I step and hold onto the clutch while slowing down. The noise is more obvious at higher RPMs. I don't think a tranny with little fluid can cause this since the gears should be coated with some oil at least. Or am I wrong?

I knew when I stopped the car after 60 miles @80mph and then tried to move again and the trans was melted together

Do yourself a favor and put some damn fluid in it and see if that fixes your prob.

Okay, I just replaced the oil seal and the tranny is with fresh Caltex SAE 90 LSD Oil. I am still getting the same noise with no improvement between the speeds of 90kh/h and 120km/h. My tech tells me its the flywheel out of balance. I am currently on exceedy flywheel and clutch. He recommends I get an aluminium clutch master flywheel which has a replaceable wear surface. As this will be more practical in the long run and it cost me just twice the amount compared to rebalancing and skimming my current exceedy. What you guys think? Can a flywheel cause such noises and is the clutch master worth it?

Im not sure how a flywheel can just become unbalanced. Unless a chunk came off.

If I'm wrong let me know.

is that tranny fluid thin? because it needs to be. SAE 90? that means 90 wt, right? get that **** out of there!!! put in 2.5 qt's of gm synchromesh. it's gm part number 12345349

about 13 bucks a qt. DO IT NOW!!!!!

How much trans fluid came out when you pulled the plug?

Alot of fluid came out when the plug was pulled. It looked thick though. Damn I guess I got cheated then. This SAE90 Caltex was supposed to be one of the better fluids my tech recommended aside from the Redline fluid which he claims is thinner and will cause the tranny to be louder.

My car was making the same noise until I replaced my throw out bearing when I my new clutch/flywheel was installed. That may be your problem.

Try using Honda MTF trans fluid next time.

Thanks for all the inputs. Till my clutch wears out, I guess I have to live with the noise. No point paying for the labour to have the gearbox in and out just for a bearing or a clutch. Gonna get it all done in one removal. Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and bearing.
