ITR Expo was last at VIR in 2008, and the track, and its respective facilities, have changed a lot since then.
The scheduled dates this year were designed to close out the year for many as well as reduce conflict with other racing organizations.

VIR has been forced to file a complaint due to issues regarding our 2013 re-pave of the historic 3.27 mile Full Course circuit. It is our hope that we can get resolution to the stated issues in a timely fashion to mitigate any inconvenience or business interruption to our customers, renters and local community.
I'm thinking that their board have enough money that they don't need to wait for the resolution of any lawsuit and that since they've made this decision in the wintertime, everything will be done in time for almost everybody's events.

They say they'll be closed for six weeks for the re-paving.
I'm thinking that their board have enough money that they don't need to wait for the resolution of any lawsuit and that since they've made this decision in the wintertime, everything will be done in time for almost everybody's events.

It's interesting because it'll be a new surface, but you can have better confidence in them than you'd have with almost anybody else.

Your profile says "NW" so it really is pretty far away.
But if it matters to people even ½ way closer, VIR is one of the best (if not the best) tracks on the East Coast.
It's not just the track design itself, which is pretty good just by itself, designed by some of the best people living who do this kind of thing.
It's also how well it's maintained, better food than a lot of places, greater and closer amenities (hotel on site), and it's also fairly safe, with most corners and likely off-track escapades insulated by long runoff.
